Fellow Texan gave me these grips for the price of postage in exchange for the factory grips off my Metro Arms 1911.

I'm kinda diggin' the old school vibe.

Wha'chu say?

(got a set of carbon fiber grips on the way as an alternative)

Double Diamond classics--I like it. I have a set of finger groove Pachmayr's on my series 80 that fit my hand perfectly, but they are ugly as a mud fence. I actually tore the mancave apart last week looking for the factory issue rosewood DD's, and must have traded them for some useless item years back.

Nastalgia is good.

I have a set of Kimber rosewood double dimonds on my Metro Arms as well, with that beautiful blueing it really makes it look classy. I also put a Springfeild FLGR for a tad added weight, and a Springfeild stainless barrel bushing that fit more tight than the original one did! That is just my taste, Looks sweet!!!:D

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the traditional wooden grips on 1911s, it just looks so classy.

I am sure the new aggressive grips made of high tech/sticky/rubbery/plasticky materials, with all sorts of ribbing and even starburst/fan patterns (as seen on some new Wilson pistols), are functional, but I like the appearance and feel of checkered wooden grips better.

I have the kimbers that look almost identical yours.
I dont like all the carved, pewter and painted grips
I really dont like rubber grips on a classic gun like that.
I think yours look awsome.

Nothing wrong with old school.

Sharp cut checkered wood grips (diamonds or not) are the only thing that should be put on a 1911. Any other kind of grips are just juvenile bling. (And stamped checkering sucks) (Rubber grips really really suck)

So, carbon fiber must be a tornadic vortex of suckage?:D

I refuse to accept that checkered wooden grips are "old school". Hell, if they are then so is the 1911 itself.

There is "stuff that works" and then there is "modern tacticool junk for kids". If "old school" is synonymous with the former, then so be it. I guess.

"+1, and I'm not even into 1911's... "

I'm pretty amazed by some of the positive comments.

These things sell for around $400 new.

I love wooden grips, I have these two sets on the way from Esmerelda now. If they look as good in person I will be adding more from her as well.
