My PST II tools is out of commision after around 10 years of use. The repair will be straight forward and I'll send it back to Leatherman in hopes they'll keep to their warrantee. If so, I'll probably keep this in my truck rather than on my belt as I have.

I'm happy with the brand and wanted to purchase something similar with the same type of scissor as the PSTII. I found a seller on Ebay selling Waves for $45 NIB with leather sheath. I went ahead and made the purchase since the same model was selling for $78 at my local Walmart. However, I didn't research the model before I purchased.

Does anyone have personal experience with this model? If so, what's your opinions, likes and dislikes?

Thanks in advance!

I have 2 of them. They are great. IMO, after trying out many different brands of multi-tools, I think leatherman is the best. their tolerances are very tight... you can cut 4 lb fishing line with the wire cutters.

The best thing is that you can send it back to Leatherman should anything ever go wrong. They will fix or replace it... no questions asked.

Great American company!

I practically strap mine on every morning with my gun. The easily deployed knife is great. I can't understand why no one can make a multi-tool that a normal person can easily pull out the scissors or the screw driver though.

The waves are an excellent tool. They did however have differences between the different generations of waves. Specifically the main lock mechanism for the tools can be released without having to raise the tools with a push button. Also the blades, saw and file are one handed opening with liner locks. The older one works just as good but takes a little longer to deploy. I would recommend them. Just wanted to say they all aren't identical.

Wave vs Supertool

I own both the original Supertool and the 2nd generation Wave.

The Wave is head and shoulders the better tool for most applications.

In particular, I like the way the two main knife blades can be opened one-handed without having to unfold the tool. Just take it out, thumb open a blade. Both main blades are liner locked.

The other tools are inside the handles, and the handle edges have been rounded so they don't bite into your hand. The inner tools have a locking latch that can be released with the thumb.

And, given that they currently retail for something like $75, getting one for $45 is an unusually good buy.

Nicely done.

Thanks for the information! I wasn't too concerned with the quality being my first Leatherman appeared well-made. The Wave just seems to offer a bit more.

Multiple generations, eh? Well, I can only hope mine is the latest one.

Going back to see the exact price for the item, it was $47.95 plus shipping. Though there are several pictures of the item itself, I don't know what I'm looking for to distinguish between generations. Below is the item link on Ebay. If any of you guys have the time, could you look at the item and see if it's the latest generation? I'm only curious since I'm sure I'll put it to good use either way.

Thanks in advance!

Well, that's an understatement. I received my Wave today and it's vastly superior than the PSTII in function. It's heavier and a bit larger but that's due to being stronger and more tools.

I'd recommend both the tool and the fellow I purchased it from (ultimatearms on Ebay) as it was attractively priced and shipped incredibly fast.

Thanks!
