i needed two small screws for a rifle,so i called midway. the screws were 4.99 so i ordered them as i needed them, but i will not order any thing in the future, postage and handleing were over 5.00. you could have sent these two small screws any where in the contry for .44 postage and a .10 envolope, thanks for your rip off larry. eastbank.

eastbank, I have been very satisfied with Midway, they offer exceptional service, good prices, and ship quickly. They probably just didn't have an envelope that was the proper size to ship it as inexpensively as you would have liked, and likely wanted it to be padded to ensure its delivery intact (because UPS sucks). I am in no way affiliated with Midway, but would encourage you to give them another chance.

:)

No- I agree with eastbank. They were going to charge me about $5.00 to ship a wolff extractor spring that weighed less than a gram. On top of that, there was a "small order charge" for something like $4.00. I passed.

They are hit and miss, if it's not a good deal then why did you buy it there?

Good question. If there is a place with a significantly deal then I generally wouldn't...but they typically have very comparable rates (and have great sales), with excellent service. I generally place a fairly large order so it isn't a problem. I will typically wait until I have several items to purchase, unless I need something quick, to save on shipping.

:)

Midway is not the only place online that charges more than you think they should for small parts. I have ordered small screws/fasteners from various online websites that charge $6.00-$10 to ship a small package across the country. You'd figure they'd just throw it in a padded envelope and call it good. But not all places operate that way... ;)

i know midway and other wholesale and retail supplyers have to make money and see nothing wrong with that, but over 5.00 to pack and ship two small screws is a rip off. i ship thing all over the contry and use small padded envolpes that i buy in bulk for .25 a piece, even in 10 packs at walmart their only .46, even with postage the total cost would be less then 1.10, that means 4.00 extra profit. how many little packs could you get ready to ship in a hour? 20-30. i have no trouble getting 15-20 small packs ready to send in a hour and i,m no expert , would i work sending little packs for 60-80 dollars a hour, you bet. but the catch is that midway only pays 10-12 dollars a hour to the employee. if they have 5 full time shippers sending 20 a hour, that works out to 400.00 a hour, deduct their wages and benifits, thats at least 200.00 a hour more profit for good old larry. eastbank.

Then go order it someplace else if you don't understand how or why things cost money to store, pack, and ship.

I just keep a list of the small stuff I need and add it to a larger order later.

If I need it quickly I'll see if a local 'smith or hardware store has it.

Yep. Got a couple of sticky notes with items listed by the computer to remind me of little things if I place an order.

I have begun to use their "wish list" pretty frequently, unless I need something urgently, I will wait until something is on sale, or I have accumulated a large list of items. FWIW, I placed a large order this past Saturday (using cheapest shipping) and received it yesterday...two days before it was scheduled to arrive...now that's service.

:)

I was going to buy that Aimpoint from (Midway USA) but then I found out my local bushnell outlet store had the Bushnell Holosight (made by Eotech) in cammo only for $200.00

I had heard good things about this sight. It looks silly on my black rifle. I got it dialed in for 25 yards and I'm working on 50. The brightness on this thing is amazing. Bright sunshine no problem. It has about 20 brightness settings.

Here is a couple of 25 yard targets:

Mine is on my 10/22: it just seemed like a perfect match for low-light shooting and I wanted to get good with it before putting it on something more expensive to shoot.

I think I will go ahead and leave it there, the 4MOA dot is good for plinking. Lot's of fun and easy to use.

My brother made it out of a thin aluminum pipe. Nothing fancy, but it works
Not my cuppa-tea (which doesn't matter because you like it) but I applaud your (and your brother's) ingenuity.

:)

Damn, missed it,it does say "Sale expires Dec 31, 2009",guess they'll be no rain checks on this one.
If you don't want to dura-coat it,a poor man's alternitive is to kylon flat BBQ paint it and put a flat clear coat on it.I love my Russian Kobra II with my fabbed sunshade the model 2 doesn't have, the problem with these are the weight and they sit too high to co-withness.

tmpick, i do know about shipping and handleing as i do quite alot of it myself. if i had to send two screws in a pack this size because i didn,t have a smaller pack,i,d fire the pack buyer and get one who can tell the difference in a 2x3 pack and a 10x15 pack. the handleing charge is nothing but a extra money maker for good old larry. eastbank. ps the quarter is for scale.
