Get one with class? You mean like a German made Walther?

At the time mine was made Deutschland was forbidden to make guns. ;)

Fritz Walther took the plans, which he escaped with, and licensed the French to make the PP, PPK, and P38 until such time as he could get set up in West Deutschland. It might have a French name, but it's a Walther. The French did a far better lob than Smith and Wesson!!!

I also have a Ranger made PPK/S.

This article pretty sums up my feelings about carrying and using the .32 ACP over 30 years. The reader comments generated by the article are as useful as the article itself.

"While the .32 ACP is not first choice as a defense gun, it is better to have any gun than none, if life goes sour!. A pocket .32 is easily carried when you might be tempted to leave a larger gun at home and take your chances..."

The purpose of a small backup handgun is to address an immediate threat from contact range out to about 20 feet to facilitate escape, literally to "shoot and scoot." In the words of the late Harry Archer, when alone and armed only with a pocket pistol "if you stand and fight you'll never live to shoot them all."

Yep, if confronted with deadly force, I would be very glad I had my "little" .32 in my pocket vs nothing, very glad. Or my NAA .22 Mag as far as that goes.

I carry mine a lot but shoot it a little. I am always amazed how expensive the round is considering it's diminutive size & power.

Got 2 KT P32's. Fine pistols for the purpose. Use only FMJ. .32 for me is suitable. I don't run around the bad parts of town and rarely go out late at night.

Forget about what a lot of folks will say - "you need .357 minimum...etc...".

Get something that you will practice with, get deadly with, and light enough to carry with you whenever you're out of the house. If that's a .357 - great! If that's a NAA mini in .22LR - great! Just make sure you're good with it and have it with you all the time.

BTW, if I have to head into the sh*tty parts of town, you can be sure I'll have my 5906 with me a a couple of extra 17 round mags on my body.

I live about as far North of Atlanta as Frank does South of Atlanta. If I had to spend much time in Clayton County I would keep my Bushmaster and Mossey pump both in the car with me which is not very practical. My P3AT lives in my pocket. I recently purchased a P-11 which is about the most compact 12 round 9mm you can find but it is still too bulky to be a comfortable pocket piece and is really only practical on your belt under a jacket or sweater. I will probably pick up a P32 soon just to have an option. My experience, actually what I have read in area police reports, has been that even if a group of three or four try to hem you in they will scatter when confronted with armed resistance. Pop one and the others will scatter whether it was a .22 or a 12 ga. The determined attacker that will take a clip of .32's and still continue his assault is more urban myth than fact. If I am ever attacked I would absolutely rather have my Mossey 500 with a full magazine of 00 buck, but it's just not comfortable to carry in my pocket.

I firmly believe that a KelTech in my pocket beats the hell out of a Desert Eagle in my safe if I'm backed in a corner.

Identify the alpha and take him out. The rest will usually scatter.

hey,
hitler blew his brains out with one so it has a certain appeal. i carry seecamp 32 with an akers holster. i also carry a colt compact 45. which and when depends on where and when. both are for up close and personal as i am a firm believer in self defense--not offense. :)

If you are gonna carry a .32 caliber gun, fer God's sake get one with class!!

I had a KT P32 and loved it....till the P3AT came out. The P32 worked great and found a home with a friend. There is hardly any difference in size and weight and I feel safer with the .380. I have a Seecamp 32 that I still carry occasionally, but the P3AT is just my preference now in a pocket gun.

Why not carry the KelTec P3AT? Pretty much the same size and it packs more punch. Mind you it does recoil, but what can you expect from a fly weight pistol? I've relegated my P3AT to motorcycle pocket duty when on short trips, or drop it in a coat pocket if in a hurry to leave the house. Otherwise I wear a Kahr PM9 with an IWB when I need a mouse gun. It works nicely in a coat pocket as well. A bit heavy for the trousers though. I Own and enjoy a couple of Colt 1903 Hammerless .32s. Fun to shoot and pretty doggone accurate at 7 yards or more. Plus they look so darned cool and carry like a dream. It's possibly the thinnest and smoothest full size factory pistol ever made. The original melted carry piece before melting the edges and all was cool. No good for a trouser pocket, but with an IWB it can't be beat... as .32ACP pistols go. It was immensely popular back in the day on both sides of the law.

I believe the "brick through plate glass window" comment when compared to .25 ACP. I've seen .25 ACP rounds not penetrate a no. 2 pine 2x4.

I am glad I found this tred for I was looking at a KelTec P32 the other day but now think I passed up a good buy I had little money for it I just bought reloading equipment
it was the only pistol they had it was new in the box and priced at $270. i'm kinda kicking my self today for not putting $20. down on it to hold it till pay week

My experience with k/t's p32 has been mostly positive. I had extraction issues on my first one and made a road trip to Cocoa where they promptly fixed it along with my pf9. It took all of 30 minutes. It's been my experience that their .32's are more relaible than their .380's. Having shot many rounds from both my p32's I can find no fault in them as they are as relaible as they can be with all kinds of ammo. They disseapear in your pocket which I can't say that about my j frames or others.

Stick with European ammo as it is loaded a little hotter than our stuff and keep the gun clean.

Are the 1903's still useful for daily carry? They are over a century old at this point. More importantly, are they safe to shoot?

It is speculated that in most instances where a handgun is used for self defense, NO SHOTS ARE FIRED. As such, a .32 may be adequate caliber.

If you do actually need to fire to stop an attacker, I do not believe that .32 is adequate (nor do I believe in .380 although it certainly is better than .32). It does not have the penetration necessary to do enough bodily harm to stop someone.

I've had a Keltec P32 since they first came out. I've only carried it a few times when I otherwise would not have carried at all.

Another drawback to the P32 is that it's short barrel makes a weak rounder even weaker. OTOH, it's certainly better than nothing at all.

Ahhhh, the .32acp. A fun and practical round for certain purposes. I carry one often, I play with several as often as I can. A Beretta 81 in .32, now that has to be sweet.

.32 was good enough for Sergeant York....His son claims his personal defense gun was not a .45-1911 but a .32 CZ......Something to ponder.
