Sorry no pictures, I'm not taking pictures in the store.
I was looking at used guns at the local Gander Mountain and they had what was labeled as a Savage Mark II Classic or something similar on the used gun rack. It is a .22LR rifle that's a bolt action with a 10 round clip and a black synthetic stock, a drilled and tapped receiver without a rail and maybe a blued bolt (I don't know what a blued bolt looks like). I picked it up and went over it thoroughly along with my 2 friends who were with me, and we all agreed it was a nice rifle.
Now on the Savage website the Classic rifles in .22lr do not look like this rifle. However the gun is priced at $125 and looks nearly brand new. Is this a good deal? Alternately I may purchase a NEW Rossi .22lr/.410 combo they have for $80 as a gift if I do not buy this rifle.
Also of note is a little issue I had with legality/purchase that kept me from bringing home the rifle tonight and as a result it is on hold. I did not know the current balance in my bank acct. and as such my friend with me was going to front the cash for me, we were honest with the guys there and said I would be the owner and would happily fill out the paperwork. However the guys there would not let someone pay for the rifle besides the true owner who's name was going on the 4473. Is this right, is this a CYA thing for the guys there, or is this just a goofy thing. I don't think it helped that the friend with me who was going to pay asked about 8 questions about how background checks work because he has never bought a new rifle and doesn't know the process.
