I think this is appropriate. I encourage others to see if they can help, even if only making a few phone calls.

There is an election next Tuesday, to fill the seat of the virulent anti-2nd Amendment Ted Kennedy. It is between State Senator Scott Brown who is being endorsed by the NRA.

On the other side is Coakely.

"As state Senator, Brown is considered one of the most conservative Republicans in the Bay State -- supporting issues like concealed carry of firearms and earning an "A+" rating from the state pro-gun group, Gun Owners Action League.
His opponent is the type of radical anti-gunner people have come to expect from Massachusetts. Late last year, Attorney General Coakley filed a brief urging the state Supreme Court to uphold a law requiring firearms to be kept under lock and key when not in use.
The choice for gun owners in this race could not be more clear -- and the stakes could not be higher. "

So, if Brown wins that will keep a filibuster proof 60 member Democrat hold on the US Senate from forming.

What I did: Went to his site and donated a few bucks. http://www.brownforussenate.com/
What I plan to do: Sign up and make a few calls this weekend to rally the Masschusettes voters.

Here is a chance to perhaps help with the final push. Massachusettes may never for a long time have this opportunity to get an A+ rated pro-gunner in. This is not a futile practice of doing the right thing just to do it. He may actually pull it off.

A poll last night has put him ahead for the first time (statistically though even).

This will be my first phone calling for any type of political candidate, but I think worth it. And really, a couple of hours over the next few days to maybe change History. (this is Change that I can Hope for) :)

So "ordinary citizens" can't own hi cap mags? Let me guess: ordinary citizens, "don't need them for hunting". Yeah. We get the drift.

Better take another look at Scott Brown. Brown claims he is in favor of concealed carry but he opposes shall issue.

http://www.ontheissues.org/Domestic/Scott_Brown_Gun_Control.htm

Rep. Brown indicated he supports the following principles concerning gun issues:

Allow citizens to carry concealed guns.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks on guns.
Require background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows.
Require a license for gun possession.

Sounds like based on gun issues one should sit this one out.
Or, base your vote on other issues that matter to you. And aren't pertinent to this forum.

I've read that Brown is trying to be all things to all voters, ie hiding his teabagging activities in order to attract moderate voters.

I'd vote for Scott Brown in a heart beat. He's honest...he says what he means and means what he says. He's not going to be any particular Party's boy; he's his own man representing his constituents not his own agenda. I donated a $100 to his campaign just yesterday. According to the news he's now raising over a million bucks a day. Sounds like a lot of people believe in him and hope he'll be able to derail this health care bill that's being slammed down all of our throats. I'm pretty sure he's pro-gun also.

I'm pretty sure he's pro-gun also.

Only if you define "pro-gun" to mean gun and gun owner registration and closure of the non-existent "gunshow loophole". We will all be carrying FID cards if Brown gets his way.

Can't think why Teddy would have been prone to regulate guns.
Must have been an incident or two in his past.
Sooooo, you agree that bad "incidents" with guns make it understandable to attack the liberties of others?

By the way, if you live in MA, or have family or friends in MA, you have one of the biggest political DUTIES of your lifetime to encourage them (strongly) to get off the couch and out to vote on Tuesday. Seriously, could there possibly be a bigger reason to make sure our friends and family vote?

What's Coakely's position on a new assault weapons ban?
Coakley never met a gun control bill that she didn't support. We can't buy new Glocks in MA because Coakley believes they are "unsafe."

Scott Brown is rated A+ by the MA Gun Owners' Action League. Martha is rated a D, and that is incredibly generous to her.

As a MA resident, I am begging you to donate to Scott Brown. We need your help. Please pull out your credit card and donate online: http://www.brownforussenate.com/

I spent several hours today at a standout for Scott Brown. The responses from passing drivers was overwhelmingly in Scott's favor. We've got a chance here.

If you are in MA or a nearby state, now is your chance to get involved and help make history. Don't sit on the sidelines. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Brown has 52% of the vote with 84 percent of the vote in - he's being projected as the winner. Great news.

Wow- what a great turnaround. Looks like guns are safe at least for a few years from absurd legislation from a Dem majority!

Sweet! I think we at THR might have put him over top! :)

Nice job to all the right thinking voters in Massachusettes!
