$500 to blow at the gun show

mosin nagant? almost everyone likes them.. They go back to the War. It is in bolt action. Pretty fun I hear, the gun is cheap to shoot and is like an ak47 what I hear.

Just make sure you do not get the one where you need a 2x4 to open the bolt:banghead::banghead: I saw a video this guy bolt was so bad he was slamming it on the table to open the bolt handle. You just need to remove that 50 years worth of grease off it

you just need one who those canvas bags and put a bunch of ak/ar mags in. You can hold it but will be heavy....

If its a firearm i've been looking at a Ruger GP100 with 6" barrel, or a Walther P22 Target. If its optics an EOTech for my AR. If its ammo a ton of .22lr and 9mm, some .223. Lastly accessories I do need a Bull barrel for my 10/22. But these are just suggestions if you are going to spend the $500 on me.

I really like gojubrian post.. those guys are trying to retire in a single day. I believe that when I saw a WWII rifle used by the seller for double than the surplus condtion!.......... LOL

Have you got a 1903/ Or maybe a P 1917? At least check any of those...might find an affordable one...that looks respectable.

What I like might not move you at all so ...what have you thought of more than twice this past month? That might be your target.As Yoda said..."focus".

$500?

The guns I've bought for around that price, or less, that have given me the most pleasure are:

1) pre-lock S&W 4" 686 with original wood grips. $450.
2) Pre-lock S&W 2.5" 19 or 66
3) Nice, arsenal re-finished FMAP M1927 (aka "Sistema Colt"). Real-deal licensed pre-war Colt 1911 copy. Especially if it was a JDL import from the earl '90s. (stamp is tiny and behind the mag release). Prices on these are shooting up. A simple tune-up with a tighter bushing, new springs and a tweak to the mainspring and you have a sweet shooting, real-deal military 1911a1.
4) Very nice quality Winchester 94 in .30-30. If you don't have one, get one (or buy one of mine!).
5) Genuine US "Victory" revolver, 4" barrel in original .38 Special chambering. Very sweet shooters and highly accurate.

I've got better "bang" for $500 or less, but nowadays those are things you might actually find at a show for that price or be able to haggle down to it.

Let us know what you find. These things are all obtainable for that amount of cash or close. Don't just blow it at the show on stuff you don't need - go find these things online any of those ideas strike you.

I'd jump on a nice Polish RPD kit with an intact barrel - $450 plus shipping (since you won't actaully see them at most shows)

I thought this before, when I did my first post, so I will enter it now. $500.00 really isn't much when you are looking for something to reach out and grab your heart strings as you walk by a display. I've suffered that tug and then suffered it again, I don't like to miss out when two Colts are tugging. I try to carry enough for more than one indiscretion at the same event. I don't rely on plastic, cash has a much sweeter voice in those situations!!!!!!!!!!!

i find if i take what would have been a gun show day, and drive around to ALL the gun shops that i know of, and browse with the same amount of money, i can usually find a better deal, on a better gun, with a decent establishment behind it.

if you buy something at a gun show, you could very well be buying a lemon that someone else cant get to work. if you buy it at a shop, they will "usually" stand behind it, at least to a certain extent.

I bought a remington model 24( browning auto 22 predecessor)in decent shape with a lyman peep sight for 240 bucks at the best shop in town, and they have an unconditional warranty on any used gun they sell for one year. It was a square deal on a nice gun. The gun works great, but if it hadn't, i would not be angry over it, I would have the ability to just pack it up and have their gunsmith fix it, and wouldn't be " up the creek."

OTOH, i did snag a nylon 66 for 200 bucks a year ago, and everyone else was selling theirs for 350-400. So there are deals, you just have to be willing to keep an eye out, and have a backup plan (what gun shops are in the immediate area) for when you DON'T find a good deal at the show.

500 bucks buys a pretty decent reloading setup, and then you can spend more time at the range!

I'm with those that recommend buying ammo/reloading components. $500 ain't gonna buy much of a gun, and if you have as many as you claim, you have more than enough to keep yourself busy at the range as long as you have ammo. I've gotten to the point in my life that if I'm gonna get a new gun, I get rid of one I already have. It's just a waste for them to sit in the safe without being shot regularly.

I would try and come home with a Colt Detective Special at that price.

A Bulgarian Makarov, a PA-64 and a bunch of 9x18 ammo

You can pick up a Makarov for cheap and ammo is even cheaper.

Buck460XVR, as for your quote about guns being like Harleys and women, I had to laugh and I gotta tell you, none of my guns are in shop on a weekly basis and none of them have left me with out me getting rid of them!

It never fails, EVERY time there is a gun show in town, I am BROKE. I even missed the second amendment tax holiday last year. There is a show in town RIGHT NOW and I am broke until Wednesday. ARGGGHHH.

If it were me I would buy ammo, if reasonably priced. I need training more than I need another gun, so ammo for more range time.

Go to a pawn shop,

You will find better deals there.

You really will BLOW your money at a gun show.

Went to the last local gun show hereabouts and found nothing, not even the $4 hotdogs were worth it. Left and went to three of the local gunshops and a pawnshop. Got Ammo at shop1, 2 S&W mags at #2, Most of #3 at gunshow, at the pawnshop a minty Remington 7400 in 308 Win that shoots dead on at 200 yds and is NOT a jamomatic. BTW paid $225 for the 7400 with 2 mags included and a Barska scope.

I think the above depends much on location. I go to gun shows here in Ohio and find I am able to buy at very near internet prices. You do have to be carefull and shop, not just buy the first "xyz" you are looking for.

I know people who have been suscessfull finding deals a pawn shops.....but everytime I stop in to look the prices are very high and the stuff is crap.

But I know its not like that everywhere.

I'd say... 500 pairs of ear plugs.
That or the strangest/weirdest gun you see under 500.

Last gun show I went to that would cover parking , admission, and a cup of coffee

500 smackers gets you a lot of beef jerky!
