Hello everyone I have a few questions for those of you who may have used the MBC .357 Striker RNFP and .358 #1 ranger bullets.

I have 5 different, all current reloading manuals and I cannot find load data for 180 lead bullets,

my question is I can find plenty of data for Jacketed bullets, can I safely reduced the jacketed load data by 10% and work up?

What are your experiences with these bullets they are both BHN18?

I have loaded plenty of the MBC cowboy BHN 12 bullets with no problems using Trailboss. I will not be using Trail Boss for the subject bullets as it will not give me the velocity I am looking for the 1200-1300 FPS range, I have Win 296, Win 231, HP-38, and Accurate #7 powders. TIA for your input

I will add that, I am loading these for use in a GP-100 6" barrel and a
Marlin 1894 with 18.5" barrel

Can't help you on the Ranger, but I ordered a box of the Strikers shortly after MB introduced them. That is an awesome bullet. I loaded mine over 11.3gr AA#9 and was able to make hits on hula-hoop sized targets at 200 yards with my open-sighted 6" GP100. If you're into silhouette or long-range shooting, it's a go-getter. I like the 158gr SWC, but I really like the Striker. Seriously - I was also shooting clay pidgeons at that range; I hit some, splashed dirt on others. I call that a pretty doggone good bullet and load. YMMV.

I asked about data last month. Here was my thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=505227

Of those powders you listed, I would probably try the AA#7. FYI, my Lee manual lists data as 9.0gr/start; 10.0gr/max. Velocity is listed as 1121fps and 1274fps, respectively.

I like the AA#9 load; the AA#7 shows, per Lee, to be about 100fps less, so it should be pretty close.

Edit: AA#7 would also work for the Ranger bullet. Lee again shows 9.9/11.0 as start/max. While it won't be as hot as 2400 or AA#9, it still gets moving pretty good (1243/1413fps, respectively)
