I have the opportunity to purchase a Remington 700, with matching remington 12x scope. It is chambered in .308 win and doesn't look like it's ever been fired. It comes with a carrying case and cleaning kit (nothing fancy) aswell. What is a reasonable price to offer him for this?

Problem is that I'm at work and can't look around to see what ones are chambered In 308 or prices. He wants to know by the end of our shift.

Doesnt he know the model of the 700 he is selling..?? (700P, 700 LTR, 700SPS, 700 SPS tactical...) There is a ton of em.....I don't remember em all...

Without knowing more it is almost impossible to say. It could be an older ADL synthetic that would be worth around $300-$350 around here. Or it could be one of the discontinued Ti models which would sell for well over $1,000 used. Probably somewhere in between.

If the scope is branded Remington it is probably a cheap scope that would add no more to the price of the gun. But if it were something like a Leupold or Zeiss the scope alone could be worth several hundred dollars.

Without knowing the model it's to hard to quote a price. Walmart had some pretty cheap Remingtons at one time. To be honest I'm done with Remington, I won't buy another. I have 2 older ones that are great but I'm not pleased with any of their newer rifles.

offer him $350 and be done w/ it. very slim chance you'll get burned, fair chance it is a fair deal, and a good chance you'll be ahead.
