Why is this model DAO only? What is the purpose of DAO only?
The little Beretta pistols can be shot both ways single action or double action.

Consistent trigger pull?
Plus it's probably a very simple mechanism inside, one that would be cheaper to make and easier to maintain than a DA/SA mechanism.

Simple, draw and fire, no decock after the event, no transition from DA to SA. DA and DAO are the safest and IMHO the ONLY way to carry in a pocket in a typical cloth pocket holster. DA with decocker works, though. I just don't care for any sort of Glock type action or SA in a pocket. I much prefer all the potential energy of the hammer/striker spring to be unloaded while pointing at my boys and trigger not covered by something very protective, a quality holster.

I have both DA and DAO for pocket carry as well as a small frame revolver. They all go bang with a DA pull on the first shot, just have to remember to decock the DA auto after the fact.

The Beretta Tomcat .32 ACP has that tip up barrel so on the first shot it is DA then after that its automatic with a lighter trigger pull than DAO. Easy to maintain too. Don't want the type of auto that you must rack in a round first or carry it locked n cocked. One should be able to pick it up and just pull trigger.

I think DAO is a great type of action in a self defense pistol. And I mean true DAO with a hammer for double strike capability just like a concealed hammer revolver.

However, if you get used to the long and heavier trigger pull of these DAO guns then you go shoot a 1911 immediately after, holy carp! You'll swear you weren't ready for the 1911 to go off! :D

BTW, I'd love to have the Micro Desert Eagle for the way it is engineered. I might change my mind after I've fired it though. :)

I have heard that it has alot of kick and bites back at you. Let us know how you like it.

I liked them at first also. Well made. After messing around with it I just didn't care for it anymore.

True story. A guy bought one at my local shop and returned it a few days later with blood on it. There is not much between the slide and your web of your hand between your thumb and trigger finger. It did in fact, slide back and sliced him.

Perhaps holding it lower will solve that problem. Same thing happened to me with Beretta Tomcat. After that I wore gloves then after that I realized all I had to do was hold it with a different grip. Can't hold it the same as a revolver if so it will cut you.

Although I do not like DAO in any gun. I have a number of then.

The MDE is an interesting gun. Right reliable and accurate but it does kick.
It's also a bit heavier than some of the other pocket guns, but I pocket carry it with no trouble.

Because the gun has decent sights and appeared to be accurate, a couple days after I bought it I tried it at 50 yards. The gun did great but I put two shots under the target.

52 yards, standing, two hands.

That's good especially since the Desert Micro Mini doesn't have adjustable sights you have to make do with what's there. That's some good distance.
Being a .380 most pistols that size will bite back hard. I remember a PPK that was not fun to shoot. Felt like pain in my palm.
The Tomcat .32 ACP after holding it better didn't kick all that bad.

The MDE is a dandy little pistol. If you're not used to small pistols you may find that it 'jumps' some. It's just the nature of the beast. Shoot one of the Airweight J-frame guns with full power 357 or even +P 38s and then shoot the MDE. I think you'll find that the MDE is a pussycat, comparatively. And a lot smaller, too.

The gun is barely larger than the Seecamp (which smacks my trigger finger hard, the MDE is much easier to shoot) and slightly smaller than a Kahr 380.

The sights are adequate without being in the way. The DAO pull is about like a J-frame in length and weight and is smooth.

While some think the trigger guard looks large, it's not. It's just that the rest of the gun is so small.

It's an all metal gun (except for the grips and recoil buffer) and made in the USA. What more could you ask for?

A better price:uhoh:

I have heard that any of those S & W revolvers made out of that material Scand/titanium are very light weight and great for carry BUT no fun to shoot it.

stinger 327: The last time I shot 25rds of +P from a 342 (left handed practice) it made my hand bleed. There's no way I'd shoot that many 357s out of one.

Shadow 7D: Yes, it's a license built copy of the ZVI KEVIN. Magnum Research changed the exterior of the slide to make it look more 'Desert Eagley' I guess, which is a shame 'cause I like the look of the original slide. It's been around since 1998. In Europe you can also get it in 9X18! I'd like one of those, too. http://www.zvi.cz/en/products/9-mm-pistol-kevin.html Take a look at the photo gallery, too. Looks like it is issued to military pilots and there is a neat looking belt holster.

MDE

I have had a MicroDesertEagle for over a year now and really like it.

I especially like the fact that it has functional sights.

Very accurate at 21 ft.

I have shot a box of 50 of .357 and at the end of the day I could feel my hand buzzing.
I enjoy the .45 ACP much more and it's more accurate.
I haven't shot that many .380's. The only one that comes to mind that I have shot and I didn't like it was the Walther PPK. It felt like it was exploding in my hand.

Some people have thicker hands than I do but in my case the slide on my Micro DE doesn't come close to hitting the web of my hand.

The Micro isn't my favorite pocket pistol to shoot, but it is accurate at self defense distance, 100% reliable and does always go bang and load the next round without incident.

Why is it not your favorite? What don't you like about it and do like about it?

I carry the Micro without reservation, but because it is a blowback action extended shooting at the range with it really batters my hand.

I purchased the Micro just because it is a blowback action which I believe is more reliable in these micro sized pistols than the tilt barrel action is.

This is not a problem in larger pistols that have longer and heavier slides.

Now in layman's terms what does blowback mean and the difference between that and the Beretta tip up barrel auto?
Doesn't blowback design mean it will kick harder like the PPK I shot and hated to shoot?
