Hey guys like the title says, just wandering if anyone knows what the approximate value of a 1952 Colt 1911 Government slide is worth? Slide is still new in packaging with cosmoline.

Probably $250-$300 to the right guy. It doesn't really fit too many areas of "need" or interest, like original WWII, or needing to put a 1952 gun correct. Any GI type 1952 made slide would be a replacement for a GI WWII gun, and any commercial Gov't slide would be for a 1952 gun, of which very few are probably needing a slide. So that makes it useful for a guy building a Colt parts gun, but maybe not so high on a "must have" parts list. The cosmoline would indicate that it is a GI replacement part if parkerized.

It would be nice to have, but without a 52 frame to put it on, its a mixmaster and they are not pricey.

Ok guys sorry I took so long to get the correct info. I should have waited until I knew for sure anyway.

OK so here goes. What he has is a 1952 Colt m1911a1 slide assembly. It is in the original USGI box wrapped in a Wax like paper not cosmoline.

The slide assembly is parkerized, has "of course" military style sights, extractor, firing pin, etc. No barrel, bushings, etc.

The box is marked:

1-slide assembly
pistol, auto, cal. 45, m1911a1
s.n.l. no.b-6
stock no. b006-550----
Ordanance dwg. no. c-550----
colt's mfg. co.
date packed sep - - 1952

So with more info any idea of the value?

I'm going to hold to my $250-$300, as there has to be a military collector that would want it for his "in the box, in the wrap" stuff. Remember, this was always only a REPLACEMENT, as no genuine, complete, GI issue (procured by the government) 1911A1's were manufactured in 1952.
