Anyone out there own a Desert Micro .380 Eagle?

I was concerned that the trigger guard blended so perfectly with the business end of the barrel, I would shoot a finger off of the bracing hand during fast draw practice. So I opted for the Sig 238 for that reason, plus I liked the single action trigger.

Since then I have realized the .380 round in a metal gun like the Micro Desert Eagle or the Sig P238 has very little recoil and it is very easy to shoot with only one hand. It is also a lot faster.

I like the P238 better than my Kel Tec .32, P3AT, MDE and Diamond Back.
(the Diamond Back, so far, has proven to be unreliable)

Trouble is, I've already had to send the P238 back to SIG because of feeding and trigger problems.:(
Since I've seen a lot of the same feeding problems I have, on the Internet, I doubt that the gun will be reliable enough to carry.
Big disappointment to. I really like the gun.

So I'm back to carry the MDE again.
I will stick with revolvers because of this. But I really like the MDE as I find it very attractive just like a piece of jewelry. It would just be another one to add to the collection.

This is from Magnum Research website.
Sharing all the family traits of the world-famous Desert Eagle pistol, Magnum’s Micro Desert Eagle pistol, chambered in .380 ACP, is the ultimate in compact personal protection. Small enough to nest comfortably at home, in a pocket or in a purse, the double action only Micro Desert Eagle is proudly made in the U.S. and weighs less than 14 oz. But don’t let its size fool you. The Micro Desert Eagle provides big-time protection with a gas-assisted blowback system for ultimate reliability and amazing accuracy. Which only goes to prove that good things do indeed come in small packages.

That's such a beautiful little gun.

I could be wrong but my experience is just the opposite in that I feel polymer framed guns are softer shooting than metal framed guns, especially when the metal framed gun has an alloy frame.

I am a big fan of the S&W 2 inch J Frame. If I could pocket carry a J Frame I wouldn't be bothering with any of the little .380 pocket guns.
I wear short sleeve coveralls all the time and the pockets just aren't deep enough for revolver carry in town, although I do pocket carry a Model 60 around the place.

MDE

I have had an MDE since last fall.

I like it. It took about 100 rds to break in. Very reliable.

I like the fact that it has real sights and I can shoot it out to 21 ft with no problem accurately.

Cant do that with other little .380s

It is heavier than a Ruger LCP.

I must say that the MDE does feel real good in my hand and pointing it feels real good.

I still like the .357 SP-101 in grey finish. It's a great handy little gun but heavy but that's why it is so robust.

Revolvers are certainly more reliable. 6 (or 5) for sure. But they are too wide for easy pocket or IWB carry, IMHO. Plus the 380 is a tad enemic.

In the end, I suppose pocket autos have their place. And for me, that place is in my right hip pocket holster!

I agree drop a sp-101 in your pocket if it's a loose pocket and it will stretch it out. Best carry is those NAA Mini Revolvers as far as size go and they come in .22 LR and .22 Mag. They will leave a very nasty wound.

Which brand and type of bullet did you find the MDE liked?

I disagree completely with that statement.

I have two P-3ATs, a TCP, a Micro Desert Eagle and also had a Diamondback 380.
Of the 5 pistols the Diamondback was the most accurate but unfortunately it was not reliable.

The TCP comes in a close second and then the P-3ATs and the Micro are about equal for me.
