I have the same configuration but in a mossberg 500

Why am I not surprised to see so may pump guns? Too many of you are truly missing out on a fun shotgunning experience by not shooting a double - either O/U or SxS.........and I am NOT talking about those cheap Chinese or Turkish POS

A decent Beretta or Browning double is more reliable than any pump.............

Mossberg 835UM camo. After 10,000 rounds of 3" and 3 1/2" steelshot and lead 2 3/4 dove loads I sent it back to the factory for a rebuild, fully expecting to pay. They replaced the slide, bolt, and everything but the stock, trigger, and receiver. They even re-camoed it to match the new ported barrel. Total cost, $83 including the shipping. They only charged for the barrel. Now, that gun had paddled the boat, been left in the swamp, dropped in the water, and basically put through hell. It finally wouldn't extract anymore, as much as from shooting rusty shells in a dirty chamber as anything.

In my opinion, the 835UM is the "AK-47 of shotguns."

For hunting, hands down my A-5. I wouldn't hesitate to grab any of my shotguns. Even my old LeFever Nitro Special SxS 16ga. Great bird gun!

My older-than-me 870 Wingmaster 20 ga

It's filled the freezer many times over. Only good for wingshooting and small game (LONG before Rem-Choke, it's fixed at Improved Cylinder) I suppose I could put a modern barrel on it, but then it wouldn't be "just right"

No.

I've had failure to fire on a Citori (not ammo related, hammer just didn't go). How an action as simple as that FTF? Not excusable. It SHOULD be the most reliable, but I know of one that wasn't.
I've also had it fire both barrels on one trigger pull. I don't complain about that one, though...I'll probably never, ever again get 3 on the covey rise with a 2 shot gun.

Most reliable is my Mossberg 500. I don't think it has ever had a malfunction that wasn't related directly to the driver. It's my close up duck gun. I've had the Nova for only about 2 years, but i've had some issues with it not wanting to go "Boom" with the first shell. It really sucks when you miss the first duck of the morning because the gun hasn't "woken up" yet. I plan on hanging on to it though, as it has a wicked choke and can take the big boy shells.

Currently, one of the Siaga-12's fill the niche. Used to be an 870 variant. I'm faster and better with an S-12, And the ones I have are 100 percent reliable so far at about the 2,000 round mark.

Hello friends and neighbors // Gummi bear,, one of the older guys I hunt with bagged 4 whitetail last year, out to 120 yards with a 20ga. Wingmaster fitted with a rifled slug barrel.

He has hunted with it for years and pretty much uses the same stand but I respect the 20 ga. capabilities. If you ever need a tool for whitetail the 20ga. will handle them too.

I do not use my 1300 DEFENDER for hunting. It is strictly for HD. I hope I never am forced to use it other than just shooting for the pleasure of shooting, NOT to save life.

It was a very surprising malfunction. From my point of view, it was simply a more tremendous kick than normal. I didn't know what had happened until I broke it open and found both shells expended. All in all, it was a pretty neat experience, though

Beretta Urika, or my Beretta extrema 2...the Benelli SBE is a dog and has almost taken a swim a time or two when I lost rare mountable birds!

Have an Auto 5...sold it. Stevens 16 gauge single shot, my first shotgun (daddy bought it new as a kid, and he's 63 now) never had a problem with it.

But the "go to" gun, period, is my Winchester Ranger 120 pump w/Winchokes (economy version of the 1200) I bought new 24 years ago as a teenager. Goes bang EVERY SINGLE time, and doesn't care what you feed it. Low brass dove loads, the all-plastic Activ shells that were big about 15 years ago, high brass steel shot, 3" 00 buck, slugs, you name it, it'll eat it.
