Alright, I know we have seen threads about this before. Many were making assumptions on the signs. This is in relation to the Charlotte, NC store. They have a clearly marked sign that says:
"All firearms must be cased before entering store.".

I personally spoke with employees who confirmed they do not allow CCW in their store. Apparently this has been their policy for a long while.

Now their aversion to CCW does not however stop them from selling firearms, and ammunition, CCW holsters, or hosting CCW classes. So they are fine with raking in cash from firearms owners, just not in respecting their rights in any manner that does not directly infuse cash into their tills.

I believe others on here have said their particular stores do allow CCW so this may just be a Charlotte, NC thing. I personally an sending all my big store business to Gander Mountain who does welcome us.

****This has now been resolved. After this posted, a number of calls went into management at this store. They contacted me and let me know they do allow CCW in the store, their employee was incorrect, and their sign, while misleading, is not intended for CCW permit holders carrying weapons for protection.

Bass Pro shop overcharges on guns anyways. No lost love there. I only go in there when my gf is shopping and I want to window shop.

The Bass Pro here used to have that sign. But it's not up anymore.

That said, I was in the market for a Glock 19. They wanted $569.

A gun store across town had it for $494. I bought it there.

BP is sky high on everything.

I've been to two (Mesa, AZ and Sevierville, TN) and the signage exempts CCW holders, so it must be. Or the management does not understand the law. The purpose of checking in firearms is for when they are brought in for sale, trade or repair and must be verified unloaded and that the firearm is not one of theirs being shoplifted when you go out.

Bass Pro in Auburn Hills, MI used to require CCW-holders to remove the ammo from their CCW, and have the store's lock installed before the CCW-holder could bring it into the store. My question is, who would be stupid enough to advise them that they are carrying?! Well, all the same, Bass Pro got an education. They have ceased and desisted. ;)

LMAO. Guys...the manager apparently felt obligated to return my call. She JUST called me. Apparently they have gotten a number of calls in the last hour.

She states, she is sorry for the misunderstanding with the sign and by her employee. CCW IS permitted within the store. I suggested maybe they need to fix the sign or add verbage similar to Gander's that states the exemption to the check policy for CCW.

Bass Pro in Grapevine, Texas had the same sign.. I asked the manager if that pertained to concealed carry, he said no, that was for the people going to the range only.

I love how when you purchase a gun there, they walk you to the front and make you exit the store before taking possession of your newly purchased firearm.

JOe

There was a similar misunderstanding with signage when the Cabela's in Glendale, AZ opened in 2006. It was changed very quickly. (Arizonans love their guns. :D) Glad it was cleared up.

See though in NC, the private signage carries the weight of law if it is "conspicuous". Without a legal definition of conspicuous, that leave a wide range of circumstances for you to be charged. I am VERY anal about always being in compliance with the law, whether I agree with it or not. If there is a question like this...I simply won't go there.

I hope they change their signage here and maybe discuss the rules with their employees. It is VERY misleading to everyone when the sign says "All firearms", I assume it means "All firearms", not "Firearms being serviced in the store". I know english is not always a crystal clear language but and mybe I am thick, but "All" does not equal "Some" in the dialect I speak.

Ditto a lot of stores. And I don't mind at all. In fact I too love it, especially if one of my family is in the store.

I see as no less than a very simple "common sense" precaution that some idiot like the nice fat, clean-cut US Army (of allah) psyco doctor major from Texas can't simply remove his new arm from the box, load it and start shooting in the store. After all, the typical walk-in store customer HASN'T been cleared to possess an arm by the local law agencies so the stores are providing a protection that causes no one inconvience or harm.

How about adding black bold to the OP that its fixed, or editing the title bar.

Yeah, because we KNOW that, even though the customer passed the Brady instant check system, that as soon as they have a firearm in their hands, they will turn into a murderous criminal.

Common sense is what we're all about here.

Wolfebyte - I was told that back when the store first opened. I sure wish Texas would allow open carry of handguns.:D
