I received the box of ammo I won from HPR today. It arrived within the 4-6 weeks the company said it would, but there was some miscommunication as the original email said it would come faster. It arrived in a plain brown box marked cartridges small arms and Made in the USA on the side.
The box looks nice enough although a bit large because because it's a paper box inside and out. I don't like these because they are flimsy, and indeed the partition inside had collapsed, leaving the cartridges at differing heights.
The ammo does look clean and well put together though. No sealant on the primers and a mixed lot of Winchester, Remington and Federal factory processed brass which has been crimped. Primers appear to be seated to the same depth and a visual inspection of about a dozen shells showed no obvious anomalies.
The bullets are 180 grain (.40 s&w) total metal jacket, which is flat tipped.
"All traceable components including the packaging were made in the United States and every cartridge in this box was assembled, inspected and packaged by US Citizens."
Scottsdale/HPR offers .45, 9mm, .40 and .223 and is adding .380 next.
They will also be producing hollow points and match ammo. From the HPR website:
"Our new Pro shooting team is underway. This IPSC team will be comprised of more than 100 professionals around the nation, with a core group of elite HPR shooters. These professionals are literally some of the most discerning shooters, and they are proud to not only shoot HPR, but will be representing HPR in tournaments around the world. HPR has on board an IPSC WORLD Champion and USPSA National Champion - Matt McLearn. We are also sponsoring an eleven year old local Payson Arizona rifle shooter phenom; he is one of the youngest ever to qualify for Camp Perry."
You'll have to wait a long time for a range report from me, as I got this box in anticipation of hopefully purchasing a .40 cal pistol sometime in August! But I will post one when I finally get around to it
