Thinking about picking one of these up. Looking for information on them. Any one have one? Does this model have any inherent problems? Do they function without problems? How are they for reliability?
Thanks for the information

I have a 1911 PD model and love it! I've owned Colts in the past and shot customs, Kimbers and Springfields.

Fit and finish are outstanding, accuracy is better than expected, trigger pull is great right out of the box. I bought it for a carry gun and it fills the bill nicely.

I've only shot about a hundred rounds through it - all HPs - and had no issues at all. Some have complained about the mags, but I've had no problems. Granted, I haven't shot it a lot, but I am very impressed overall. IMO, a lot of gun for the price.

I have the PD model (5") as well. It is a great gun right out of the box. It has been a flawless performer and it definitely gets my recommendation.

I have one that has been flawless for around 7,500 rounds now. It feeds, fires, and ejects everything I feed it with every magazine I've tried from Wilson's to CMC's to ACT's to Colts to cheap Chinese gunshow "bargain" mags. I couldn't be more happy with it.

I have a fullsize stainless. While it thankfully has no rails it unfortunately has the front slide serrations. The gun is outstanding in all respects.

I don't own one, but if you can believe the things you read on this site, they are fine pistols. I think even Mr. Fuff has made a few positive comments about them, and he usually won't complement anything that was made after 1970. That says something, to me anyway. I don't recall ever reading anything said at all by Mr. Tuner on these guns though. I think he'd rather carry a Norc.

i have a 5" pd with the scandium frame & pre rail version. it has been great, its an 2005 that i bought used in december. i haven't had one ftf, fte, or anything else. although they do tend to be quite hungry. if i bought new i would have bought the ss 108282. if i wanted scandium i would have bought the commander size, which i prefer.

Easily the best factory 1911 I've ever had.

The only drawback is the silly flopping-around trigger pad. If they spent an extra 15 minutes to properly fit a trigger pad, the gun would feel $500 better. An easy fix if you know how:

Hav a Gunsite Commander. It is one of the best out of the box 1911's I've ever owned. It has been totally reliable for over 1500 rounds. It is very accurate and with the Scandium frame light and easy to carry. Just out night
sights on mine and it was good to go.
