Well, I just purchased this toy from a friend of mine last week for $650. It came with 4 40-round magazines, soft carry-case and a clinton-era thumbhole stock. I immediately ordered an Ace folder stock assembly for it.
A few days ago, the stock came in, and while trying to install it, I immediately ran into a problem. First, the stock came with the installation instructions for AK, not Daewoo. But that was the least of my problems. While trying to take out the buffer spring assembly in order to change the screw for the stock, I was unable to get the pin out (this is the reason behind my frantic post on THR the other day). At that point, I gave up and decided to just clean the gun and take it to the gun smith for the stock installation. But after I took most of the gun apart, I was shocked to see how dirty it was. In fact, that was the dirtiest gun I’ve ever seen. The piston had stuff growing on it and the gas pressure regulator was glued shut by the old gunk.
So, the next day I took it to the shop and explained my dilemma. The gun-smith took on the project and had my rifle ready two days later. Since I brought the gun in pieces, he just charged me for cleaning, considering stock-installation a part of reassembly. He said the gun is in a good shape, but just needed some serious cleaning. He soaked and scrubbed all of the parts nice and clan and installed the stock. I am yet to take it down to the range.
The short history of this rifle:
A friend of mine and I went out with a couple of his co-workers for some plinking about a decade ago. One of his friends had this rifle, with which both of us were very impressed. My friend ended up buying it for $700 with the same extras as he sold it to me with. In the past decade, he took out his rifle twice, firing about 300 rounds in total. The rest of the time it just set in his crawlspace. After bugging him to sell it to me every now and then, he finally made a decision last week.
Anyways, just wanted to share pics and the story of my new purchase.

Very nice!
Congrats on your new purchase!
Hopefully you don't plan on doing the same 'reliability testing' as the previous owner :p

I came soooooo close to buying one of those back in the day. I bought a romak 2 instead. It was cheaper.

Nice... I have one of these rifles and switching out that stupid thumhole stock has always been a desire of mine..
