Awesome!!! An Old Army club is just what we need around here and the fact that I can get in is even better! I admit the picture stinks but the revolver is awesome in every way. I got an incredible deal on this Old Army, the guy who sold it to me had inherited several guns from his Grandfather and only wanted the "Real Guns". I got the gun for less than the brass grip frame alone is worth and a few weeks later the conversion cylinder fell into my lap for a song. I love this gun.

Quick question for Kanook & [email protected], are your guns both simply shortened to the loading lever stud or is this a variation I didn't know existed?

I like the looks of them.

I would like to know where I can get some Ruger white grips on mine. I have looked and even called Ruger and they don't have them they didn't even have a set of nipples. Said they might get them in but because it was discountiued he doubted it. I did order a nipple wrench and a manual which they sent out quick. I guess if we ever need parts we all might be out if luck.

I called Ruger about a year ago just to see if they had spare nipples. They said they had them, and I thought great, they always will. Looks like I should have bought a spare set.

I've been wanting to put different grips on the adjustable sight "shooter" for some time. Carved ivory would have been great a century ago. Molded plastic just doesn't do it for me. I think stag, ebony or vulcanized rubber would be neat. Ebony with a checkered diamond would have me drooling... Local mountain mahogany would be pretty cool as well. ClemBert, where did you score the dark wood grips on your non-shooter?

As far as overall looks go, the polished fixed sight model (either barrel length) with the sexy top strap is hard to beat.

Any aftermarket grips that fit a Ruger Blackhawk will fit a Ruger Old Army. Brownell's and several other outlets carry them. As far as nipples are concerned, many sutlers carry Treso brand nipples; their part number for the Ruger Old Army is 11-50-12. Track of the Wolf carries them under their catalog number PRA-A. Other spare parts can be purchased from Brownell's, Midway USA and Numrich, among others.

Wow, some great lookin' hog legs, folks! Here's my $97.50 find. It was in beautiful condition, guy just said he wanted to move it, get out of BP stuff. I helped him out, charity you might say. :D Yeah, I'm going to get a better set of grips on it, but I don't really want wood.

I had a stainless, but it got stolen in a home burglary when I was at work. The theft still hurts when I think about it.

Those silver-black laminated walnut grips came off of my Ruger Blackhawk. I use them a lot just for photos.

Mine had the barrel shortened on the blued one. I paid more for the brass gripframe than I paid for the revolver. I traded into the short stainless one for the wife. When we got it, we didn't know it is one of something like 50 or 60 that came from the factory labeled 45 LC on the box.
