Hi, Anyone here know where I can get the one piece wooden grips for an H&R model 949 .22 revolver I've searched the web for half the day :banghead: and all I found was 1 well used set on Gunbroker. Thanks.
willy,
The 1 piece western style H&R grips are becoming very hard to find.
Like you, I've seen a few listed lately, none were too nice.
If you are interested in finishing your own, I think I have a new unfinished set stashed away somewhere.
Let me know, and I will see if I can find them.
Jim
Hi Jim, I'm into woodworking as well as shooting and reloading. I'm just not proficient enough to make a one piece grip from scratch. Finishing, I'm up for. When you get a chance and can find the grip send me a PM. Thanks for the reply.

That 949 is a nice shooter. My grandfather passed it and a western holster and cartridge belt to my dad. My dad passed it on to me. My grandfather or my dad filed/ground grooves in the grip so it would fit their hand better. I'm giving the 949 and the holster to my son-in law for Christmas. I'm having the holster and belt reconditioned and would like to have new grips for it. Keeping the gun culture alive in my family.
willy,
I have about 30 H&R's, and love them all.
The 949 is a great model, nothing fancy, just an excellent, firearm, made to work!
Here's a pic of mine.
On a different note, not all 949's were made to work!
Here's a pic of my Nebraska Centennial commemorative H&R model 949's
# 100, and # 118 of 300.
Nice looking guns, Jim!! Here is my 949. Notice how the grip has been filed/ground down. Also, the red on the gun in the picture is not rust. It's just the lighting.
Bluehawk,
Yep, pretty much the same revolver, except for the 22/22 mag convertible thing. Also 6 shooter rather than 9 shot.
I've got a couple 649's also.
5.5", and a 7.5", only barrel lengths offered, both made in 1980.
Here's a couple pics.
Also a model 650. Same revolver, except in nickel. Also 1980 manufacture.
