i can't believe this ridiculous thread is still going, how could it possibly be disrespectful to display the flag on a set of pistol grips?

Ah...OK so vets have more rights than the average citizen.....got it

that pretty much sums up his position.

silly me, I thought the military was fighting to preserve right for all Americans.

guess I should quit buying products with an American flag on them signifying their country of manufacture.

and no more football since colleges and the NFL put the flag on their helmets...disrespectful jerks

change my vote...unless you are a vet you are not entitled to use the flag in any way

it is not the American flag but that of the US Military

As a veteran myself...I totally disagree with the person that stated it should only be 'ok' for vets and their families.

A soldier serves to defend everyones rights...even those we may not agree with. Yes, a soldier serves to defend the right of even someone that wants to say....burn a flag. It is the foundation of our constitution....ie the first amendment.

I personally took greater offense to the push a few years ago for a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning than those that burned a flag.

To the OP, if you want to portray our flag on your pistol...go for it.

As far as it being respectful or not...I say as long as it is done in good taste with good intentions, and you honor the rights that the flag symbolizes, I say it is fine...and patriotic to boot.

hghunter, where did I say that. I do differentiate between earning a right and just having it. Nowhere did I say a non vet couldn't do it. Matter of fact, why don't you quote my last sentance of that post and explain how that works in with your intrepretation of what I said.

+10000000000000000

And thank you for your service.

Flag on the grips is OK.... until you drop it in the dirt.

Then you'll need to take your gun to the local Scout Troop for an honorable retirement.

Now we know there are diverse opinions on this matter, let's hear from the OP regarding what he has decided to do. Pony up brother...what's it gonna be?

I have decided against doing it.
It would be respectful, but also to beautify.
I do not think the flag should be used as an adornment.

Sheesh, it a picture of a flag, not a flag itself!
Are we defiling George Washington when we feed his image into a Coke machine? You'd better send me all of your cash, it is riddled with photos of symbols of the U.S.--even some depictions of flags....hurry send it quickly.

Those are nice gulo gulo... if I had a chrome or stainless 1911 I think I just may buy those... but... I have a blue finish so I would like to see that same laminate on wooden grips.
