FIVETWOSEVEN,

The US Navy only had 16 inchers, the Japanese had 18 " guns. 2700 lbs. per projectile for heavy armament, and 6, 100 lb bags of powder to fire each one:eek:. Tad heavy for Whitetail, but moose might be alright.

Hey guys, I just bought a 1.65" mountain rifle and I was wondering if it would be enough for whitetail?

That depends. Iron sights or are you planning on using a scope? Out past 50-75 yards shot placement is going to be more important, what with the loss of velocity. You might want to step up to a magnum to be sure...

This auction just made me choke up a little thinking about how much I love this country. This has to be one of the coolest toys I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing that link!

If you cut your load back to 5700 lbs, it will be fine for Whitetail hunting. I have cut it back 2600 lbs and hunted squirrel with My 16'' gun.

Take a big pot to cast very many of those projectiles...lol. Of course by the time it cooled enough to open the mold you could melt another couple pounds of lead...
