Look, such "ignorant" pronouncements by the Brady Campaign, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, etc., do not have as their intended audience people who know much about guns (such as those on this board). Their intended audience is those who know little about guns other than that they viscerally don't like them. The professional anti-gunners (like Josh Sugarmann of the Violence Policy Center, Michael Beard of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, the staffers at the Brady Campaign, etc.) actually know quite a lot about guns. They're just playing a public deception game. To them, it's all about "the ends justify the means" and no trick is too low as long as it advances their intended goal, which is the complete removal of guns from society.
Don't underestimate these people. The remedy is to educate their intended audience (suburban soccer moms, etc.) so that it's less hoodwinked by the "anti" tactics.
