Have seen some of these, seem like an interesting reason to get into a revolver, but how do they perform? Any problems with the cylinder/chamber gap with small, high pressure rounds like that? I really don't know anything about either, so anything y'all could tell me would be great. Thanks!

They have had problems because of the bottleneck design. Causes the cartridge to back up and jam the gun. Might search on it.

There's a 17 forum out there somewhere.

I have a Taurus Model 17, which is an 8 shot .17 HMR on a small frame platform.

Pros- Very, very accurate. Nice, crisp SA trigger.

Cons - Sometimes it is difficult to extract fired cartridges, very heavy DA trigger, crud rear sight.

Fit and finish is fairly good, but it wants to be scope, but is not tapped and drilled for any mount.

It is a good deal of fun to shoot clays at 100 yards with it.

any reason to think about getting a revolver is good e'nuff' reason
(and pleased to hear DMZ enjoys his)
but the hummer is a rifle round, and better served by a rifle length barrel
was a faddish thing for a short while (in revolvers), but you don't see many of them these days, just not a whole lot of reason for manufacturers to do 'em

if 22 LR just doesn't seem quite enough, think about 22WMR
a little cheaper ammo cost than 17HMR, fun, loud, throws a nice flame, can be very accurate (and can be had in poly-V tips, if that appeals, though I think the poly-V not as consistent out of a 6" barrel myself), hits at least as hard as 17s out of handguns, nowhere near the split casing issues and such as with 17s
22WMR revolvers not hard to find, but if looking for quality, think about a 6" S&W k-48, nice, good trigger

not uncommon for rimfire magnums to be a bit sticky on extraction, pretty high CUP for rimfire brass you know, (part of the reason magnum rimfires are hard to make reliable in autoloaders, long or short) but not a real issue if just wipe out cylinders with a soaked patch every 100 rounds give or take

good luck with whatever you pick

I've got a Single-Six in .17HMR with another cylinder for the Mach II. Both work very well and have had no issues whatsoever with them. I was expecting an accuracy improvement over the .22lr/mag but it's pretty much the same.

I use a Ruger Hunter Single six in .17HMR with a Nikon 2-6 LER scope in the Ruger ring mounts. The trigger is tuned and I can hit ground squirrels out to 100 yards or a bit more if lucky. I shot a racoon at 50 yards and it worked well. It is quieter than a .22 mag

I have a six inch Taurus in 17 HMR. No set back problems. No set back problems with any of the bottle necked cartridge chambered revolvers I've had, I think it's only a problem with the 22 Jet.) It runs around 1950 fps, about twice as fast as a 22 LR and much faster than a 22 Mag from a revolver. That's the main point in my book, relatively flat trajectroy with little recoil;.
