I'm so excited I could explode! I am picking up my DCM A-2 AR 15 today for shooting in CMP matches. Any tips for cleaning and sighting in are appreciated.

Here is a link to the USAMU High Power Shooting Tips on the CMP web page. The info that you are looking for is there as well as much more.

You may also want to look into the DVDs that the CMP has that were made by the USAMU on service rifle shooting. It's good to not develope bad habits that will cause problems in the future.

Good luck and welcome to the sport.

Took it out for the first time yesterday. It was great to shoot....two hours seemed like 15 minutes. Only got to shoot about 30 rounds because of all the initial cleaning while shooting to break in the barrell properly. Still great. Shooting about 20 inches high at 100 and didn't have a tool to adjust the front post site. Going to get my hands on one this week and see what I can do to drop the poi at 100 yards. My son loved it and can't wait to shoot some more!

That was wasted time on unnecessary cleaning. Clean thoroughly and shoot, as recommended by the AR mfg with the best barrels in the industry.

You can use a nail or bullet tip to turn the front sight. It sounds to me like you will need to go up one turn. This will lower your POI. This should give you about 2 moa on the rear sight to center with a 6 o'clock hold at 200 yards.

I borrowed a front sight adjustment tool and dialed er in good at 100 yards. My son had his first shoot Sunday and really had a good time. He was the only person there under aged 35. He is looking forward to his next match. I have got a lot of good advice and help from the PA guys that run the state junior program...they are reducing my big learning curve which I greatly appreciate!
