Getting set for the CMP rifle matches and am going to build a range cart as my previous cart fell short. If you have any photos of your cart please post so I can borrow some ideas. TIA !

while i bought the creedmore big blue chair cart thing (at a discount the first month it came out), if i were building, i'd think it would be hard to beat the jogging baby-stroller setup.

i have seen several who strap outdoor trashcans to a dolly with bungee cords and they seem to get by fine on that too.

plenty of pics on images.google.com search for "range cart"

go to the cmp web site and then to the national matches and then the photo section and you can see lots of photos for several years and some will have carts in the photos

Made from a harbor freight welding cart about $50 vs some carts that are $400-$500. Handles the rough ground at Perry well. Still have a few mods planned for it.

Actually if I lift the shooting mat it fits right between the two rifles. I am building vertical rifle racks to hold the rifles a little more stable than bungee cords. It's not perfect yet but I'm cheap. My rule of thumb is if a piece of equipment can't get me points I go as cheap as possible. I don't skimp on rifles or ammo though. :)

I've seen more just like mine at Perry. I've also seen the fields littered with the little plastic wheels of carts that didn't stand up to the rough ride through Perry. Think BIG tires no matter what you decide on.

Very Nice!

I thought I had a pretty clever setup with a folding hand truck and some milk crates, but I think I see a new cart in my future.

I used the Fold-It cart for almost a decade. It is expensive but it has uses around the house.

The primary reason I have kept using it is that is stores well on the truck ride up to Perry.

Whatever you select, when you go to the Pitts, cover your equipment securely and take your rain gear with you. It can be sky blue on the trip down, but monsoons roll off that lake faster than high speed rail, and they don't let you out of the pitts till the relay is done.

I found a tarp that fit my cart, bungee corded the thing on when I left the line, and this kept my equipment dry many a Highpower match.

I've seen a couple interesting set ups at matches I've watched. I haven't participated yet. I look forward to seeing the set ups people on here have. I have a couple carts I've rehomed from flea markets and yard sales that I plan to use for my cart. I haven't decided which route to go yet. I have a couple 3 wheel strollers and a couple tow behind bike carts. Should have enough there to give me at least a good start.

Is there a rule at Perry that the range cart brought to the line can only have 2 wheels?

i am kinda surprised more people don't bring their own electric golf carts

Golf carts are a whole other source of contention. Everyone walk or ride the dirt ball, no special treatment/advantage. I can see that.

At one point (maybe still) they wouldn't let people take bicycles to ride back and forth. They said that they were a hazard in the pits.

I use a small hand truck with a pinned handle and a plastic milk crate tied to it with bungee cords to secure guns. Handle comes right out of the hand truck and all fits in the trunk of the car.

I like the guy who hauls all his gear in a heavy-duty trash can bunjee-corded to a hand truck.

Do not bring a trash can on wheels.

That is what a Bud of mine brought to transport his stuff Service Rifle Week.

He thought it was a great idea, wheels, lid, cheap, everything fit inside.

He would come off the line and find trash in it.

From a distance he saw a guy walk up to his can, lift the lid, act startled by the sight of the shooting gear inside, and yet still toss his trash in there before putting the lid down. :banghead:

Sometimes you just can't win. :cuss:

I built a cart for 3 gun out of a baby jogger. It was $15 off of ebay. I built mounts out of double split set collars and tubing to mount ATV gun mounts. Enough room for a large range bag where the kiddo goes and a cooler where you would have stuck the stuff to clean them up.
The wheels lock so it stays put in the wind and it folds flat to fit in a car.

Some other buds brought two of those and they were easy to roll. A lot easier on my hands than my Fold it cart as you just pushed the baby jogger. They figured out a way to cover their equipment as they went to the pitts.
