As listed above, there are quite a few types of surplus out there that are much sought after.
Australian, Portugese, South African, Radway Green (British, usually de-linked MG ammo), Hirtenberger (Austrian), and Santa Barbara (Spanish) are all excellent for 7.62mm service rifle plinking.
Most folks avoid the Indian ammo like the plague though. Apparently there were a couple lots of it that came over that had factory rejects mixed in with it. Many people have reported having no problems, but others have reported poor accuracy, squib loads, and even rounds that have caused damage to the weapon. Considering how cheaply you can find the other surplus ammo types, it's up to you whether you want to try and save a few more dollars and run the risks.
