...

this cityboy has to send big kudos to the north for that post.

Lovely pics of .... everything.

Man ... i love the way you prepare your cereals up there :)

Could you tell me a little about your fish drying technique? It looks like you've just filleted down to the tail on both sides, without cutting through, which makes it convenient for hanging. Are the gaps in between the chunks of meat where ribs were removed or just cut there to increase exposed surface area for drying?

Thanks!

Josh

Im very glad you fellas like it :D

Yep, fillette'd from the gills back, with ribs holding the guts and head, then the head is removed and the belly cut off, scores made so the breeze can dry it , the heads and belly are eaten fist, the scraps, guts and bones go to the dogs pot for cooking.
you need a breeze to dry meats/fish with, and try to keep the sun/rain off after you get a nice tacky dryness to the outside, and bugs cant lay their eggs on em :D

Caribou,

You have a right to be a VERY proud pop my friend. You have done well by your daughters and they will all carry the lessons you teach them through life.

Congrats on the fine harvest from natures storehouse.

She IS an avid Mammoth Hunter :D

She can spend hours gazing over the bow or walkingthe beach at lowtide for miles.
this is the time of year when I boat from place to place, looking for Caribou back in the Tundra. Long walks with no load over Tundra is pretty tough, and I have surely put myself to the test again this year with trying to get as much into each load I get home, boat full and slow :D

Looks like great times,,couple questions,,what part of AK? what variety of salmon? and how much for the tooth??

Other than the salmon, what kind of fish were those? Looks like some kind of whitefish.

Thanks for posting, Once again it's a great one! I look forward to reading each one of your posts, I suggest that you write a book, and profit a bit from your experiences.
As a man once told me ( a publisher), If you are willing to write something, then someone is always willing to pay to read it...

Of course on the High Road, we gets to reads for free :) - (don't change that part of it though)
