I have been searching for 124 grain 9mm loaded to NATO specs in fmj or hp (if anyone admits to having such).

I would appreciate a source and contact data please. I would like to purchase a few boxs if possible but if not a couple of cases.

 Or, it could be what we call 124 or 125 gr. +P+ 9mm in FMJ or HP.

Surely if there is any on earth the folks here can find it! :)

I don't know that it is surplus, but Natchez has Federal M882 for $7.54/box when purchasing 10 boxes or more. I've been using this in my two Browning Hi Powers and it works well.

I seem to recall that Southern Ohio Gun has it listed, but I think they only like selling to people with FFLs. (could be wrong)

I do not no if is surplus but [www.ammoman.com]has Greek manufacture 124grn 9mm for $119 for a 1000rnds with free delivery.I have bought ammo from him before and he ships same day most of the time.CW

Natchez is interesting...

Southern Gun doesn't have anything...

Ammo Man has an interesting option...

Natchez is best so far but almost double the price of what I found last year...

Thanks folks, I'll keep an eye out here to see if anything else surfaces.

Century Arms is the distributor for the "HotShot" brand of ammo. They offer the 9mm. in the 124gr. FMJ. I e-mailed Century and ask them specifically if this was a "NATO" load. They said that they didn't have the information at hand, but they expect it is. Considering where it's made (Bosnia/Herzegovina), I wouldn't be surprised.
I haven't heard much feedback on this ammo, but what little I've heard is positive. The price is certainly competitive. I plan on ordering some for my HS!...Croatian gun...Bosnian ammo...Makes sense to me! :)

HotShot® 9mm FMJ 124 Gr. ......$5.95 per box...$99.87 per case (plus shipping)...$75.00 minimum purchase.

Just like commercial rounds are loaded to SAMMI specs, NATO has there own specs for ammo. (helps with interoperability)

Basically, it means the round is built to a certain set of physical dimensions, in a certain way, and loaded to certain velocities at certain powder pressures.

In general, it means Good Stuff!

Stay away from the GREEK/ Olympic ammo it sucks:cuss: :banghead:

I bought 1K of it and out of the 100 had 20 FTFire, I check the case and they all had good primer stricks. This was with my SIG P226 that had just been to the gun smith for a 5K tuneup. I had no problems with any other ammo in that gun.

STAY away from Olympic ammo..IT sucks:cuss:

I picked up a box of that and had one, of the only two malfunctions in my Beretta 92FS.

The other one was when Mr.Jody Hudson tried to feed my Beretta Wolf 9mm.:p

The Wolf is fine in some guns but certainly NOT in all. It does give a person the chance to practice all sorts of malfunction clearing however... :D

BUT, I've decided to go for some NATO as the tolerances are military specifications for very, very, tight - round to round near-perfection and they are loaded pretty hot too. The result for my guns has been excellent accuracy and no malfunctions... Which is exactly what they are designed for.

Those are the same reasons I switched to the Federal M882 round as well; it's just dang consistent stuff. Although it's a couple of bucks more per box than the Winchester Value Pack, I can shoot noticably smaller groups using it than I can with the value pack. Maybe it's just psychological, but maybe not :).

I just orded a case of the 124gr +P gold dots from ammoman.($159 shipped)

Doing the math, I came to the conclusion that loading my own gold dots to 1250fps velocity would cost me about $135/case.:(

And I get 1000 pieces of nickel brass(one-fired is ~ $21/1000 from midway) So I basically pay $3 more for loaded ammo.

We shall see how consistent it is.(If it is good I may not reload 9mm for a LONG time)

It may not be NATO, but hollow point ammo is ALWAYS preferable to FMJ in 9mm.

PS: I thought nato spec 124gr was moving faster than 1200fps... GA has their nato fodder at 1150fps:confused:

Stay away from Georgia Arms, my gun shop said that a customer blew up a S&W from a double charge from them in .357 magnum. I don't know if it a one time case, or it happened more than once, but when I hear that, I run!!!!!!!!

You must run a lot. How many guns have blown up shooting Winchester? Or Federal? Or YouNameIt? EVERYBODY has a bad round now and then. Do a search on this forum and I think the posts reporting good experiances with GA far outnumber the unsatified ones. Most of these are first person accounts, too, not "my gun shop owner said...". Does your gun shop owner by any chance sell ammo? And how did he know it was caused by a double charge? Couldn't it have been a squib, or even a faulty gun? Story sounds fishy to me.

I, personally, have shot thousands of rounds of GA ammo without a problem. I have known several other people who have done the same, and I know of no catastrophic failures.

Maybe to you, but not to alot of other people. Besides, we're talking about cheap target ammo that mimmics +P anyways, not defensive ammo.

The only NATO I've chrono'd is Winchester 124gr. NATO in the LEO boxes. Averaged 1200 out of a Hi-Power and 1220 out of a Beretta 92FS. My HP has the slightly shorter 4.65" barrel as opposed to the 4.75" slightly longer ones you see on the MKIII's. (I think). The Beretta of course has a little bit longer barrel than a HP.

I plan on getting some Federal and chronoing that eventually when the weather gets nicer.

Wolf 9mm has worked well for me in all the guns I've tried it in so far -- Taurus PT92, FEG RPK HiPower "clone", FM HiPower. I'm on my second case. At ~$80/1000 I'm not too demanding, but have been very pleased so far.

Also been thru a lot of Wolf 45ACP without problems (about 4 cases now). So far so good with Wolf 40 S&W in my Kahr too, but only a couple of boxes so far.

I have had a few dud rounds in 45, but at a price that I can barely equal with reloading I can live with it, I'm enjoying not chasing brass too :)

Wolf .380 has been nothing but trouble (failure to extract) in my P3AT and FEG SMC-380 PPK "clone". I think the steel case has too much adhesion for the extractors in these little guns.

This month alone my wife has put about 400 rounds of Wolf 9mm thru the PT92, I've not cleaned it it quite some time, I'm waiting now to see how long it goes before it starts having trouble.

(Incidentally, gwalchmai, the GA ammo you reference is reloaded. I shoot a lot of Georgia Arms ammo now, about as much GA as all the other brands combined, but I want folks to know what they're getting.)

Georgia Arms has new hollow point ammo- loaded with Gold Dots, matter of fact- but I see no new brass FMJ on their site.

Ammoman Gold Dots

ended up stocking up on the 124gr +P Gold Dots www.ammoman.com is carrying.

I bought 1,000 rounds, too. You will notice the box says "Not for Law Enforcement Use. Practice Ammo ONLY". Evidently, this ammo is from a batch that had some hard primers. I've had no problem with it so far in the two pistols (Hi-Power, Kahr) I've fired it in, but be advised. I'm going to use it for practice and kicking around in the woods, but I'll buy 50 or 100 rounds of Georgia Arms-loaded Gold Dots (G9MMH, for 124-grain) for actual defensive usage.
