My just because...my Pietta 1858 Remington cap & ball BP revolver. Awesome looking revolver. I just like to look at it.
"An elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

My Mosin Nagants, pretty much all other guns fall into some useful category such as hunting guns, or carry guns. The Mosin just doesn't I love it and I love shooting it. I guess it is just the belief I have that anytime you can get a good rifle for $70 you should. Actually the Mosin is my Zombie Apocalypse gun, I don't really believe in that stuff but if I need to justify it...

As stated by somebody else, most of my guns are in this category.

An added reason for my first 7.62x39 rifle (the SKS) in early '08 was due to its value, reliability,
low-cost Russian ammo diet, and capability of really rubbing the anti-gun Sen. Chuckie Schumer and FeinSchwein types the wrong way. No kidding at all.

The latest are two Spanish FR8s which are handy bolt-actions with aperture sights, but look all-business and wicked, as the similar HKs look.
They sort of resemble the CETME, but without the risk of a semi-auto assembled by the prestigious C.A.I.

Win '94 30-30, K-31 Swiss, NOS Russian SKS, 1851 Colt replica revolver in .44, 1858 Remington Army revolver replica, Daewoo DP-51 9 mm. Most of the others I had some "reason" to buy. Others have become "just because" guns over time. There are approximately fifteen thousand guns I'd like to have just because, if I thought I could afford them.

My PLR-16

Just because:

1. Was immediately fascinated by it
2. It's just as much fun as I figured
3. The Bradys and their ilk hate it
4. I never bought that .45-70 Street Sweeper that also "fascinated" me

A couple of years ago I got a Winchester 1895 TD in .30-06.

I liked lever-actions, the few opportunities I had to shoot one, but I didn't want "another cartridge" to reload. (I know, this is close to heresy...)

After carrying it around a little, I didn't like the balance. Or the steel butt-plate. Or the open sights. Or the lack of sling swivels.

So I cut the 26" barrel down to 20", added a Limbsaver pad, put a Williams aperture sight on the rear and a ramped sight on the front and drilled the nice walnut stock for studs.

It's kind of like a .30-30, with a little more velocity. And I like the balance, now. :)

But when I bought it, I really didn't have a plan. It was "just because".

The Thompson 1927 on the top was bought just because I had disposable cash I thought it looked cool. I bought it for a grand before the AWB died, and it came with the drum which was selling for about $500. Thought about selling the drum but never did.

The one on the bottom was also because I had disposable cash I thought it looked cool. I later traded the it for a GSG5 I can afford to shoot more often.

My Daewoo dp-51 Unique tri-action trigger and on of my favorites to shoot.

My 500 Magnum 4" barrel.
Since I enjoy handgun hunting, and had sold my 44 Magnum, I figured I would get back into it again, only this time a bit more power. I have actually found a calmer load the gun likes which pulls a nice group at 25 yards.

My 1941 Mauser P-08 "Luger". I don't have a decent pic of it, but it has been 100% reliable since the day I bought it. Very accurate also.

no longer have a just because gun. sold em all.

too many calibers around the house. becomes a logistical nightmare.

just have the bare necessities now and life's so much easier.

Cased replica Colt Walker:
Big, bold, beautiful
Historically and technologically significant
US Army and Texas connections
All rolled up in one heavy revolver

Besides my the guns in my carry rotation and my bedside 870 all my guns are just cause. One in particular Though is my ruger sr40c. I like the gun but don't love it. Don't particular enjoy shooting .40s&w. I have just BECAUSE my sweet little wife bought it for me :). So I guess that would be my best example.

my just becauses

my 2 favorite's Remington 700 action with Douglas barrel with lapped bolt and custom stock with 4x12 Leupold mil dot scope. in 240 ackley.
Other is a Pedersoli 1870 Sharp in 45/70 with double set trigger, with Creadmore 1000yd rear peep sight with a globe with spirit level front peep.

There my favorite's because I use the Ackley in competition on 250 yard targets. groups sub .15" on 5 shots on a non windy day. The Pedersoli is just a blast to shoot at 500yard targets. I am thinking next summer about going up to Montana and shooting at "the Quigley shoot." Its always on Fathers day weekend, located in Billings Montana.

HK Mark 23. Hey, I've always wanted one, I hit a deal on a new one and had the cash, and it's lived up to it's reputation. Will I carry it? No. Will it be a home defense gun? It will not be. But MAN is it fun to walk that sucker out on the 100 yard line and break clay pigeons on the berm while people walk up and ask how in the name of God I';m doing it...LOL HK Baby. No compromise.

An Israeli Mauser.
I dont even own a single round of 7.62 NATO/.308. but, I just had to get that rifle.

As a Jew, I love the history, that it was built in 1937 by the Nazis for the purpose of killing Jews. It was captured by the Russians, and sold to Jews in Palestine where it was used in the 1948 war for Israeli Independence by Jews who established the Jewish sate. There is something so wonderfully and historically ironic about that, I just HAVE to love the rifle.
