"Colt Delta Elite...the original "
Wasn't the Bren Ten the original?

That's correct. But I understood him to be referring to the first ("original") 1911 chambered in 10mm.

Question to me on how I keep my guns clean?

I normally don't take pictures when they are dirty and I have an ultrasonic cleaner. I also treat my guns with care and don't scratch them up or put them in holsters unless they are carry guns.

There are also some Dan Wesson Pointman 7's in 10mm kicking around. I have one with a spare, factory fitted 40 S&W barrel....along with a Valor in .45 and a Guardian in 9mm

I have 3 Smith & Wesson 610's no dash numbers. Two have 6.5" barrels, and the other a 5". Also a Dan Wesson
Pointman 7, and a 1086. All are awesome shooters.

One of my long time shooting buddies had a Delta in 10MM. The frame cracked.

I love my Glocks in 10MM. Here's my Glock 29. Stormlake barrel, 15+1 rounds of Double Tap 10MM, Truglow tritium night sights, 4.5 connector and she runs 100%. Nothing more powerful in such a small, lightweight package.

I can change this weapon to .357 SIG in about one minute; or .40 caliber the next minute. Or 9X25 if I desire. All 4 calibers run 100% and use the same 15 round Glock 20 magazine. :D

The Glock 29 is the most versatle handgun made.

I like the Glock 29 10MM handgun so much....I own two. !

I reload as well. Really the best option if you're going to run 10MM in anything. Be well folks.....Bob

i bought the colt delta elite on a whim. i've had a bunch of kimbers and have never had a colt. i should have bought the kimber.

delta elite flaws:
1) heavy trigger for 1911
2) arched plastic mainspring housing
3) lousy grip safety, spent a pretty penny getting a real beaver tail put on it
4) sold black trigger is fugly
5) didnt even have the prancing pony engraved on it

plan on putting on a new thumb safety on in the near future too

i should have bought the kimber but had to try the colt, very underwelmed

Bconklin.... now you are just bragging!

Oceanbob, I like the looks of your G29s. The grip extension with the g20 mags must work well. I had a big issue with the G29 and getting a grip, but that looks like a nice arraingement for a CCW with stock barrel.

I would still prefer a G20.... but such is life.

PM me if you're interested in getting rid of it. Seriously.

Clearly - the photos of the Guardian and Valor are gratuitous ;)

I own a Glock 20, but just got into the 1911 platform with a Springfield RO & a pt1911 9mm for the wife. I would love to have a 1911 in 10mm. Yes, the G20 holds twice the ammo, but a 1911 just feels right in my hand.

...Dear Lord, please place a 10mm 1911 under the tree this Christmas. I promise to never sin again. (Unless it's needed to obtain a new 1911 at half price...then I can't promise much!!!)

I'm kind of partial to my Match

Have to support 10mm threads.

My personal version of the "perfect" 10mm pistol. It's a custom bobtailed, Commander length 1911 with a Bar-Sto barrel.

10mm options

My first handgun I ever purchased was a Block 20. I had it six months and picked up a number of goodies, like a 6" barrel and the extended controls. For whatever reason, I sold it to pick up an AR. With that said, I hated the glock's factory sights, the rear sight that looks like a goal-post. I could not hit K5 for crap with it. I thought it was me, but a very excellent marksman friend of mine also had trouble with the factory sights (his groups of five covered a half dollar, which made me look quite foolish).

Years later, I was looking at a custom 1911 by Bob Serva. I did a lot of research and found some disturbing reviews concerning quality, especially for the for the money, so I ended up backing out of a deal.
I drooled over the STI Perfect 10, but 2500 bones?!?! Waaaay to much cabbage for me to justify.
I now own a Stock II Tanfoglio in 10mm. When the magazines don't choke up, it is by far the most accurate pistol I've ever shot with a fantastic grip (super skinny for a double stack, though I've got big hands). Easy 2.5" groups at 50yrds. The 10mm lead, in a proper 'full power' load such as that from DT shoots as flat as my first girlfriend, but the magazines kill it for me. Its a pussycat to shoot (steel frame) and really soaks up recoil, but until I can find a foolproof way to get all the brass through the gun with no feed failures, it sits in my range box as a nice looking paper weight.

If its of any interest to you, I've begun toying with .40 Super again for comparable ballistics, and really like that FNP45 Tactical. A simple barrel swap and you've got one fast heater! I believe someone also mentioned 9x25 Dillion, which is also extremely hot. Unfortunately, short of a full custom 1911, I've only come across this as an option for the Blocks...

The last I can think of (other than what has been mentioned) is the S&W 686 wheel guns in 10mm, which also shoot .40 with moon clips if memory serves. Pricey though, even on the used market (~$700 last I looked, in 2010)
I thought Ruger made a GP-series revolver for 10mm or I may have been dreaming, but someone can correct me if the ol' brain forgot. I've read about owners doing a ream-job on the wheels for 10mm, as they're comparatively cheap to a Smithy and built like brick *****houses.

Edit: Almost forgot! That Les Baer is gun porn at its finest! Looked at them as well, but had the same issue as the STI (the MSRP)

The G20 is a great choice, or even a G21 fitted with a Storm Lake 10mm conversion barrel.

There is no builder today thought that can match the mighty S&W 10xx series pistols. If you can find one less than $600 snag it.

I'd love a DW 10 but the mags are expensive, or...?

A DE would be nice but the mags are again, expensive?

Dan Wesson Titan

Seeing as how I've got just about every other 10mm made, this one leaves me drooling...

So? Once the frame was cracked there was no more problem.

The fix was to mill off the portion of frame that was cracking. You could actually do it yourself with a right angle grinder and small file.

Warning: 10mm's are the crack of handguns. Highly addictive.

I'm always on the lookout for others. I plan to add a Witness Hunter, a couple more S&W 10XX, a Delta and a Kimber Eclipse. Probably others, too. Star Megastar if I can find it. Sarzilmas K2 (17+1 in 10mm:eek:) if they ever become more than vaporware.

apparently the glock 20 does better with full house loads than the colt delta elite

You're not supposed to shoot them. You're supposed to photograph them, put them back in your safe, then post pics on the interweb.

Delta Elite purchased NIB off the shelf 12-3-11. If you haven't seen one locally lately, this might be a good time to look again.

WC Tactical Elite in 10 mil. Magwell removed. Metaloy HC frame and barrel. Cerakote slide. Novak sights installed by Novak's. I would challenge anyone to break that FO front sight.

Heinie Longslide in 10 mil, of course. I had this shipped into an FFL 90 minutes south of here. Three folks handled it while I was doing paperwork. None of them noticed it had a long slide.

That's funny :)

My sister shoots the bejeezus out of hers, both with the 10mm and .40 barrels. She also has a Witness Match 10mm that she loves.
