Jed,
I have the combo for review.
When I do a product review in an area I'm not familiar with, I occasionally check on the forums for others' experiences.
Good feedback as background to my own observations.
What I was looking for is advice from those who have experience with the Sparrow, with or without the Ruger behind it.
How soon does it tend to get dirty to the point of cleaning, does it routinely make it to the thousand rounds recommended by Silencerco, does it affect accuracy, and so on.
I have put a grand total of 7 rounds through the combo, I'll be test-firing the pistol with & without the can for accuracy tomorrow off a rest, and I'm scheduled for a lab session to measure the DB levels with & without it at Silencerco next week.
My experience with suppressors is about 30 years behind the times, and limited to a 9mm Ingram (lotta fun). Don't even recall what brand the can was.
The temp today was about 40-45 degrees when I fired five rounds off.
Interesting to note that part of the crack would be from the bolt, but I just now went outside & let the bolt go on an empty gun several times, nowhere near the crack & nowhere near the echo, even 30 yards away from the house right next door. Temp outside now is about 35 degrees.
I wasn't expecting Hollywood quiet, but once the term was mentioned I thought I'd pursue the DB reduction further here.
Plan is to fire five different loads in the lab, running from Rem sub to Win hyper, and note the With/Without results, so I WILL be trying different loads.
Figured I'd do a tiny bit of informal non-calibrated earball testing here at home, just to see what it does, and thought the Remington subs would be a low-end starting point.
