if you guys would be so kind could you post some pics of your glock 17 and give me a little info on your experience with your glock:D

I bought this earlier this year. It was my first Glock, I figured I'd move into the 21st century and buy one of these new-fangled polymer wonders after collecting dozens of fine older handguns. Short story - I didn't like the trigger or ergonomics at first, but realized I could overcome that. What I couldn't overcome is the fact that it felt so generic, so characterless, that it didn't call to me at all. It is perfectly utilitarian. I sold it about four months later.

Fortunately, I own other handguns that are perfectly serviceable and still make me pleased to own and shoot and handle or look at. This is my experience - you didn't specify good or bad!

well you could have got a ghost rocket trigger connector with 3.5 lbs pull.still i whole heartily agree about about it being an unanimated block of materials but it does have it's place. nice pic:cool:

I don't agree with whole "it don't have soul" thing....
Of all the handguns I own or have owned, only the 45 my dad brought home from WWII has soul. The rest are tools, and the only soul they possess is that conferred by me while they are in my hands, measured by the shooting enjoyment they provide, and their utility.
By that standard, my G17 has lots of soul...I shoot it well, it is completely reliable, and I like the way it handles.

My 2nd generation G17 is a police service sidearm that was re-furbished by Glock. I did some trigger work on it and installed a set of TFO sights.

I had the slide done by Larson Tactical in KG Gun-Kote. I sent them the slide and a sample of the color I wanted and they did a perfect match.

You'll never see another Glock exactly like this one. Assuming you want to look!

There's a 17 in there somewhere. Trained with them in the Academy and was hooked. Took the G Armorer's class and it got even better. Just keep on shooting and shooting, training some more, and it's excellence shines on. Was surprised at how well I shot the G19 I carry for duty, even with bigger paws.

I had a 3.5 connector in it, but I don't remember what brand. Also put on aftermarket sights and an extended mag release. Still didn't like it but I agree they have their place.

That's fine. I'm glad you enjoy your Glock. They are excellent guns.

Here's my first and so far the only gun

I wanted to buy a CZ75B but there was none in stock around here to try (didn't seem to be any in stock anywhere). Beretta 92FS was my next choice but it was heavy.. and some of my friends already had Berettas - I wanted something different. A guy at a local store was trying to sell me on S&W Sigma, which I wasn't really interested in, but I really liked the light weight of polymer frame. Somehow I never thought of Glock - until I walked into a local range and rented one just for the heck of it. Now I rented a couple of other guns before, and this was the first time that I walked out of a shooting session smiling. I was more accurate than ever before, the weight seemed just right, the sights were easy to see, and even though the grip seemed a bit too wide at first, I was more comfortable with it overall. So I bough it.

My friends and I are meeting at the local range every 2-3 weeks. They have Berettas and Tauruses, mainly. We always share guns. Some people shoot with my gun more accurately than with their own. Probably the only gun that I and others can shoot as well is the Beretta 92FS. Also, this G17 was the only gun with no FTFs so far.

Now I am not a Glock fanboy - I am sure that if I did buy that CZ, I'd like it as much if not more; the Beretta is great; and I am afraid to shoot a 1911 or BHP since I will want to buy one on the spot; the grip angle works out great for me but some people hate it; but I am also sure that G17 is one of the easiest guns to shoot accurately, especially for the beginner, and one of the easiest ones to clean. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I thought there only existed one picture of a Glock 17 that gets passed around for everyone's use. I mean, they ain't much to look at and about as basic & utilitarian as a hammer. I've had mine 20 years now and it's as reliable as a... well... a hammer.

Y'all are going to end up getting me to drink the Glock "kool-aid" aren't you since I been on this site I find myself actually looking at Glock in a whole new light. I shot one once upon a time a long side with a Kimber 1911... I remember shooting pretty good with the Glock even tho I did better with the Kimber. There's a huge price difference there too...

There's a Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) with an annual membership fee of $35. Supposedly, if you enroll, you can buy one Glock that year for $425, bringing the cost of the gun (with membership) to $460. I didn't know that when I bought mine, it was $499 shipped online. Still, not bad, closer to Ruger than Kimber for sure.

I've shot and owned many Glocks and they are indeed generic lifeless kind of pistols, but when I really want to feel secure when I carry a pistol, I love the Glock. I've owned 4 calibers of Glocks and none of them have ever had a failure of any type. I don't particularly like the triggers either. I shoot them pretty well though.

I met a law enforcement type who had a G17 with a nice trigger job and it felt almost exactly like my Sig X5. It was really smooth. He also shot sub sonic ammo and he could shoot lights out with it at 50 yards. If you have a hundred bucks (give or take) for a trigger job for your Glock - I can say without hesitation that it turns it into a whole new pistol. Fix the trigger and the ergonomics turn into a positive instead of a love/hate thing.

I know the G17 is an excellent pistol, but I prefer my G19 gen 4 because of its versatility. Great for concealed carry as well as bedstand duty(when my M&P 45c takes the night off) and range fun. Has great accuracy, and for its smaller size only has 2 less rounds than the G17. IMO, its a no brainer.

Here is my G19:

The G19 holds no interest for me at all. Besides my G17, I also own a G26...which I absolutely love. It is a blast to shoot at the range, and I am accurate with it out to 50yds....I like the versatility of using the 10rd mag for smallest size, easiest concealment, with the option of using a G19 or G17 mag for a reload. Usually, I carry with an OEM 12 rd mag.
You can make a G26 bigger, but you can't make a G19 smaller.

Do you CCW your G17 ?

I have in the colder seasons, with no problem. I use a simple IWB kydex clip on holster.
My mid sized Glock is the G30, which also gets some cool season carry. But, the G26 gets the most use.

I carry a 17 full time, year round, and never had any troubles. Its really not a "large" gun. A good IWB holster just makes it disappear in that nook at 4:00.

While I do have a couple of them, I tend to agree with amd6547 about the 19's. Just never really saw their point. The 17 is just as easy to carry, and the difference between it and the 26 is enough that there is a difference.

Love mine. Now it has a Lone Wolf Barrel and adjustable rear sights. Shoots accurate and hasn't had a single failure of any kind, well past 2500 rounds.
