Not necessarily my favorite but it's the one I trust and wear for work-

Photobucket is acting up, so instead of the actual left handed Randall, here's a shot of the box it came in.

My Favorite Sidearm

I have a few others that I feel confident enough with to carry (S&Ws 5906 and 629-2 4", and a ruger gp100 6"), but by FAR, this is my favorite sidearm that I completely trust to function as expected. I'm past 2000 rounds on my count with zero 'FTF's (and I feed it all sorts of different ammo). Between that and the .45acp's lovely characteristics, and the fact that it's drop dead gorgeous, it is by far my favorite! :) It's a S&W 1911 in polished stainless, ltd edition 1 of 231 (grips in the photo are the originals that it left the factory wearing), I carry this far more often than any of my others as well, at least 300 days a year likely more than that (I haven't gone a day without carrying something that goes bang since I obtained my proper license, something about murphy's law and better to have it and not need it). Some might say this is 'too flashy' for their tastes, and that's fine by me, as we're all entitled to our opinions, but my opinion is that it's no more 'flashy' than the fire and BANG that come out of it when you pull the trigger, and I wouldn't pull it from my holster until I would be pulling the trigger anyhow, unless of course someone I trust enough to show it to wants to see it :) in which case their eyes always open a bit wider than they already were :D

I just had to add this EGW custom bushing plug :D

but since this photo was taken, I used vinegar to strip the bluing, and filled in the smiley with a fine-tip sharpie, and I think it looks much better on this gun

I'm looking to buy another SW1911 exactly like this one (not counting the slide-stop and custom plug of course), if anyone has one they can part with

I have fond memories of my Rock Island Arms GI .45, nestled in an M3 tanker shoulder holster. I KNEW I never shoulda' worn that rig while waterskiing on this really deep lake. What was I thinking?
