StrawHat, I have an appreciation for the oldest of the old as well. I like me some muzzle loading muskets and rifles, and have an affinity, though never able to shoot one, a trapdoor springfield and the likes, of the old single shot rifles.

In 1934 Germany began to rearm and the first weapons they produced were new Lugers. Since they were prohibited by the Treaty of Versailles (sp) from building arms, they coded the new Lugers K on the receiver to hide the production date. Only about 10,300 were produced and of those 300 went to the new Kriegsmarine. This K date Luger as assigned to the Ostsee or Baltic fleet. Most K-date Lugers were lost in the war. This is one of about 25 that have been found.

purchased thru the NRA in 1963 for $23 shipped

I wish we had deals like that these days (granted with inflation that's about $160, but still those M1 Carbines fetch a pretty penny these days...I'd like to add one eventually). Nice rifle, doc540.

1933 restored PEM sniper. It was an ex sniper that I put an original mount and repro scope on.

dark.zero.x, what's that rifle you have second from the bottom in the first picture.

I figure it's a Mauser of some sort but I can't quite put my hand on what make.

G98/40 That rifle has quite the story behind it, picked it up for $30 at a gun show. A older gentleman was carrying it around and it caught my eye, I asked him what it was, and in a very accented English he told me what he knew about it. turns out, it was his brothers rifle from when they lived in Eastern Europe, and the family emigrated here after WW2 (one can assume that this was a partisan capture, he didn't go into much detail other than saying those were hard times) he told me it was for sale, I asked how much and walked out 30 bucks poorer.

Here are a few of mine.

Finn model 39, mfg 1942 Sako barreled.

Remington Rand 1911A1 mfg 1943.

Chinese SKS.

$25.00 prebubbarized Tula mfg 1937, was so ugly, scout scoped and found it to be very accurate with cast boolits so is now my designated truck gun.

Model 96/38 6.5x55 Husky Swede mfg in 1942, it is like new.

FN K-98, was rebarreled to 7.62x51 (308) by the Israelies in the 1960s. Scouted it many years ago when Mausers were priced cheaper than the MN today.
