I inherited 6 firearms yesterday....most are good, except for this poor soul
Norinco 54-1 Tokarev

Its loaded with surface rust, but appears completely functional. All the controls work, the slide moves smoothly and the trigger is crisp. I have it up for sale locally as is but wonder if it might be worth the time and trouble to refinish....

If you still plan on selling? No. Any worthwhile refinish is going to be an investment you'll never make back as it won't increase the cost of the gun NEARLY as much as you put into it (ie, a $125 reblue might bump the value up $20-25). Any poorly done attempt at a refinish will likely detract value.

Just sell it for what it is and let the buyer who's keeping it decide how to handle the finish. Some people probably will just remove the rust and shoot it as is. Myself, I'd probably do that, degrease, and then touch it up with cold blue. If you've got a cheapo airbrush it wouldn't be a bad candidate for duracoating either.

Remove rust and enjoy. I would not sell an inherited gun unless I really hated the person.

No.

Thanks, I have LOTS of interest in as is. So I quess I'll just let it ride until it sells.

Take some of the rust off, then use one of the bake on finishes. It isn't really worth selling, but it could be fun to shoot.

Find a kid going to gunsmith school to try his hand at re-bluing it.

In CT don't you have an 'approved' list of arms that are lawful for sale.. might be worth a lot more IN CT than out of CT.

No such list, you are confusing CT with MA. CT guns laws are not too bad, we do have some lingering AWB rules on rifles that make no sense but for the most part the state is not overly restrictive.

hey Mike. Just watch out with bullet velocities. I remember at the range we went to i think there was a bullet velocity limit of something like 1300fps. That pistol is gonna far surpass that!
