that looks good, Ive always liked the beefiness of the 1917s dunno why, they just look cool :D.

that a B&C stock?

ive had a couple b&c stocks. the way the finish is kinda shiny in spots is pretty unique to them. I havent had a chance at a 1917 yet, its one of the guns i want go get, preferably one thats been bubba'd cause id like to have it made into a .35 magnum thumper or a 9.3x62.

I've got a few in "precess" that were bubba'd before they came my way. You's came out real nice - congrats :)

I'm thinking one of mine will go the 375 H&H :)

I went another route with my 1917, it too was semi sporterized, and I put it back to as much origional as I could, full mill stock and hand guards, recut the shortened barrel for the issue front sight, as it was drilled and tapped for a lyman reciever sight I added one just to get the old girl up and shooting untill I can figure a way to reinstall the sight ears and make up a windage adjustable rear, put a dayton traister trigger on it and it really does shoot well, love the clip guide feature, makes for rapid reloads. Yhr 1917 is really a fantastic rifle

Hello Longshot!!! For some reason I am not getting notifications of threads that I have subscribed to????????? So please forgive me for getting in on your beauty so late!!! Great job, looks like a great work horse and you can't go wrong with the caliber!!! Please give us a range report ASAP, it should be a tack driver!!! cordell

I just got back from the hosp on pain meds (kidney stone - yuck) and took a look at my 1917 rack grade bore. Dark, rough, as delivered from CMP. Started to clean it as therapy and mind diversion - sort of works - and it just kept throwing dirty brushes and black patches. OK, time for the heavy iron :fire:

Plug muzzle and fill bore with KG12 which will soak for a day or so. The we'll hit it with SS brush and see what happens  It's been a real good method on the old Arisaka's that I know shot corrosive ammo. Usually has them throwing clean patches in 1/2 hour with much improved rifling. I bet this one will too :)

The difference is that they have chrome bores and this is just nickle steel. We'll see :uhoh:

Kinda like the Model A Ford - keep it original (I will this one) or, build any kind of hot rod you want

I've got them in all flavors - Original (now), bubba #1 and #2 with the grinder marks still showing, a pro built sporter and a pile-o-parts :)

But, the Arisaka's come first. Got them going in different directions too, but I'm experimenting with home made "straight jackets" cause of the pencil thin barrel profiles. Real easy to find tubing that will slip over an Arisaka contour :)

One of the bubba 1917's will get a straight jacket treatment too. It'll be the one with the already cut down mil-spec stock and the JA 2 groove barrel. Going to turn it into "tacti-cool" post W-II super sniper something

The others will get a more conservative approach. One is going to at least 300 H&H, if not 375. The other two, I'm still not sure on
