Just watched the DVD of THE BOURNE IDENTITY with Matt Damon. Anyone know what type of sniper rifle Clive Owen (the killer with the glasses) was using?

That is one sweet looking gun. I wonder if civilians could buy this in my state and what the price tag for it would be....cool looking gun.

Unfortunately, no one currently makes a post ban, US legal 550. :(

If you can find a preban, expect to pay in the high thousands. Like....$9,000-13,000. :uhoh:

Hmmm... about the same $ range as the HK PSG1 -

sniper rifles

i am a fair rifle shot. i have never been to a sniper class. i do not forsee ever having the need for a sniper rifle. that being said:
I WANT ONE OF EACH!!! they are so cool! why does everyone want a sniper rifle?

Mastro -- you could own one on a class B pistol permit.

Fireinthehole -- the Sig 55x series is chambered for the 5.56x45 mm cartridge.

Well...I presently have a Class A permit -- Thank Christ, it was hard enough to get it. I've got to get a gun similar to this...for absolutely no reason other than it's an incrediably cool looking gun..:D

I don't think it's so much that it's a "sniper" rifle that excites people, it's the prospect of having an infinitely accurate rifle that would force you to raise your skills to the level of the equipment. Very few people can shoot a PSG-1 or SG550 (or a hyper-accurate bolt gun, for that matter) the way they're capable of being shot, I know my skills are nowhere near that level.

What gun would most people start off with if they were serious about raising their level of accuracy?

My choice: Rem 700 PSS, if you don't mind a bolt action.
Very affordable and accurate (3/4 to 1/2 MOA) out of the box.
