i just joined the site, folks. was reading a thread regarding the xd 45, and was going to reply to the post, but it was over 3280 days old, and couldn't add a reply. so here goes.

to all those who are thinking about buying an XD whatever:

i have an xd 40 and i love it. i like the cam that rises when a load is chambered, and can run my finger across the back of the slide to assure that it is cocked. nice to have if i was in the dark. plus the grip 'lever?' must be depressed to fire it. makes sure you have it held properly. i like those items.

***FYI. when i started shooting, i was shooting high. fact is is that the stock rear sight gives point of aim at bottom of the target. i want a true point of aim so that the top of sight is the middle of the bull. however, SA will ship you a rear sight free which will give true point of aim shooting.

also, their customer service is just great! when i bought mine, they were offering to send 3 extra magazines and extra clip holder if i bought before 12/31/10. well, i sent all required info to them but it somehow got lost in the shuffle. i called them after 12 weeks and the girl told me to send another copy of the bill of sale and i'd get them. 5 days after sending it to her attention, my mags came in the mail. love SA!

so if you're shooting high it's because the stock sights call for the 'bull' on top of the sight. they'll take care of you.

one last thing. i learned about the sighting problem i was having by viewing posts on 'xdtalk.com' it's a great place to learn about xd owners' concerns and tips.

wish it was US made, but hey, it's a global economy, right? SA backs the gun for life. that's good enough for me, i guess. whenever possible, i buy American. i'll be visiting this sight often, i suspect.

There are plenty of threads regarding the XD from this week you could have replied to...

Most Xds I have shot are setup of a 6 o'clock hold, since that gives you a more consistent point of aim for bullseye shooting.

Welcome Mingansr.Ive also had very good luck with SA customer service.I own 2 XD40 service models.

I have both and can say the only neg. on the XD line is weight for CCW, other than that i say they are equal.
