So I "powder blasted" the finish on my AR

I was cleaning my AR the other night and grabbed the powder blast instead of the gun scrubber. :cuss:

Now the finish on part of the gun is messed up. See picture below. The picture makes it look worse than it really is, but still...

Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I just chalk it up to being careless?

Have someone DuraCoat it, or do it yourself is your only recourse now.

Is that a S&W?
Really surprised the finish came off.
Most of the better AR-15's are anodized, and that don't wash off.

Have you tried oiling the surface to see if it restores the appearance?

If you can't make the black color come back, your other option is to spray the rest of it to make the color uniform grey.
