Most accurate semi auto 22

cz 452 Brno, 1 of 2500. there are other guns just as accurate, but they cost a lot, lot more.
for a pistol, a Sig Trailside ( used is the only way) under $450 is a bargain. they shoot darn near as well as a M41 S&W at 1/2 the price. Ruger MK ll is also great value for money if the grip fits you.

Weatherby Mark XXII, oldie but few better.
Thompson Center R-55, accurate rifle but has a few issues. Now discontinued due to issues.
Any of the tricked out Ruger 10/22's.
Hard to beat the good old Marlin Model 60 for the price.

Not much in a factory out of the box .22 auto is going to match your Savage. You could build a 10/22 that should equal or even surpass it.

Of mine, the Nylon 66. Can't explain it, but either it's exceptional, of it just works for me.

I like my Model 60 awful well. Shoots minute-of-squirrel at 100 yrds. Actually holds a group pretty well.

I'm loving my Armscor M1600 that the wife picked up for me. I took off the fake M16 carrying handle and threw on some Weaver rings and a Centerpoint 3-9x32 scope and I'm surprised at how accurate this thing is, and can't complain one bit about the function either as long as I don't try and feed it them cheap Thunderbolt rounds.

I've got a Heckler & Koch 416 D14RS that's just stupid accurate. With cheap Agulia match ammo it'll keep 30 rds. well under 1" @ 50 yds.

It'll do this all day long, with the stiff factory trigger. This gun doesn't shoot "flyers" like my 10/22, Winchester 190, or Remmington 597, all of which have had trigger work done.

At the range I don't have to wait for someone to call a "cold" range to hang targets. I shoot the little nubs of paper left on the staples from targets already torn down.

I think my little Browning BAR-22 will give you a run for your money Nice Nikon scope and stupid accurate

Out of the box, the Marlin Model 60.

The current one that may be a really good shooter is the CZ 512. Not many people seem to have them yet.

The Browning SA-22 is consistantly accurate, but not a sporter bench rifle.

As a general rule the bolt guns are the most accurate. Unless you put a lot of money into a 10/22.

As others have said a Marlin 60 is plenty accurate for squirrel hunting.

But I'm curious, why do you ask?

Have to disagree with ya' there. Volquartsen! If anyone would have told me there was an autoloading .22 rifle that would hold its own against my Anschutz 54 Super Match I would have suggested that they had possibly bumped their head wayyyy too hard. I own 'em both & my Volquartsen Superlite is stunningly, amazingly, (almost) frighteningly accurate.

ALMOST all rifles will out shoot the person behind the trigger
it's not until YOU get good that you might notice the difference between a tuned steel match 10/22 receiver and fitted barrel Vs. the base factory gun. And with .22's I've found that AMMO actually is the biggest consideration, you can have a base good gun that is excellent with one type of ammo, and a tuned gun that shoots like a scattergun with the same ammo.

+1 for the Volquartsen, although my Magnum Research is a close second.

and the S&W Model 41 as far as semi-auto handguns go.

So you mean out of box rifle. I have a Ruger 10/22 with a heavy aftermarket barrel that is really accurate, so much so that I sold my US44 Mossberg. I don't know if that's you critiria. I sure would like to see some 50 yard groups with some of these rifles, someone do a side by side test, please.

I have an Accu-Sport LVT 10/22 that will place multiple shots into a one-bullet diameter hole at 25 yds. It don't get much better than that. Gunblast dude also said it was one of the most accurate rifles of any he had ever shot altogether.

If there were ever a semi auto rimfire that would keep pace with my Savage bolt action rimfire......it would be my marlin 60.

My GSG-5 does 7" 10 shot groups at 100yds with Remington golden bullets.

CJ, I was just wondering if you meant production rifles with any upgrades in your comparision. Like is changing triggers or stocks something you would consider production? I might add I appreciate the informative response you gave to my previous post.

Remington's 597 is a superbly accurate rifle out of the box. I put a volquartsen hammer in mine to greatly improve the trigger and it wears a Bushnell Trophy 3x9x40. If I'd fixed up my 10/22 to shoot as well, I'd probably have spent a grand or better. It'll groups 1.5" with CCI at 100 yards provided there's no cross wind. All holes touching at 25.

Okay for cans I suppose. A squirrel is pretty safe at 50 yards, though. Your average 10/22 can shoot 2" at 50 out of the box, mine did. I shaved a half inch off that by adding a Hogue stock and getting rid of the barrel band. I think a good trigger and it's plenty accurate enough for hunting or plinking, won't win any bench rest shoots our club has, but I have an old Remington 512 that is amazing. I got it 50 years ago for my 9th birthday. It's a bolt gun, though.

Heck, my Ruger Mk2 PISTOL shoots 1" at 50 yards, better than its 10/22 sibling. Go figure, but the 10/22 is accurate enough for what it is used for, a plinker.
