I found a app called "Gun Log" for iPad and iPhone. It lets you track your firearms, reloaded ammunition, range sessions, and can even store pictures of target results. It helps keep all information organized and helps determine a lot of factors affecting firing sets. I would suggest anyone who shoots and has an iPhone or iPad check it out in the ap store it is only 99 cents and is well worth it! I am going to try and get some screen print examples to add to this post.

Here is the basic layout:

Here is an entry for a firearm:

Here is what the ammunition layout looks like:

Here is a typical hand-load ammo entry:

Here is the firing sessions where you can link rifles to ammo used:

Here is the session information where stance, firearm, ammo, conditions and many other factors can be recorded:

Yes some iPhone software does snoop, but this does not so I do not see your point? That article was only taking about one specfic company that was snooping, that is spreading fear and propaganda, nice.

There are lots of apps that have access to all parts of your phone.

Thank you!

This is exactly what I've been looking for, and I appreciate your post!

One question, if I may: Can it store photographs of one's firearms?

Yeah I am going to put all my information about all my guns in one spot that can easily be accessed by some agency that might one day want to take them away from me. Call me paranoid if you like but that's not for me.

I will use my notebook and a pen thank you.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you. ;)
It is a cool app, but no thanks.

SleazyRider - yes it can store photos of weapons as well as different configurations, example - you have a rifle that you have a scope on but also shoot with iron sights.

I forgot to post pictures of some of the reporting functions which is one of our best features:

Here is a failure report for my Rugar 10/22:

Really a neat tool for information management especially if you have a large amount of firearms.

It also has a section to catalog accessories purchased for your firearms but I have not begun to start to gather that info yet!

Coolness. I'm actually working on a Windows program that is similar to this myself. Once that is finished I may tackle the Android platform if no one has that as it appears somebody beat me to it on iOS :).

The developer is also working on an android based version of the app as well, but I do nt know of a eta.

So if you lost or have your phone stolen, not only can they find out where you live but have an inventory of what you have and how well it shoots.

A childs diary is more secure than the lock on most phones. There would be a lot of useless phones that were locked up if it were hard to bypass.

Recovering the phone to a usable state from a lock isn't hard - but getting data back can be - particularly so with the iPhone which has no easily removable MicroSD card. The simple way to recover from most locks is to do a complete factory reset back to stock.

Besides - though they're more marketed towards businesses rather than consumers, if you're that concerned about it you can configure the phone so that you can do a remote wipe on the unit in the event that its lost or stolen. I manage all of our organization's smartphones (traditionally we used BlackBerrys with a BES, though we're now moving to Android based phones), and we've done this several times for either lost phones, or for employees who were terminated and we wanted to immediately destroy the data they had on their phone.

Besides if that's the holdup just put in a feature request that the author offer an option to encrypt the locally stored copy of the data.

Mgmorden - I love it when people talk about something they actually have some knowledge on besides newspaper headline depth! Awesome thanks for posting!
