I have what I think are Fuzzy Farrant grips in new condition. One is for an N-Frame and the other one is for a Colt Python. Both have the checkering. I just came into these grips recently-but, I had no idea who the manufacturer was? And, I'd never heard of Fuzzy Farrant. Are Fuzzy Farrant grips fairly valuable now or not? I do know that both of my Fuzzy Farrant Colt and Smith N-Frame grips do not require the grip frame to be cut off. Following are some pictures of these grips:

1)On my S&W 28-2:

I believe he was at one time a firearms instructor with the LAPD and began making revolver grips for himself and other police officers as a sort of part-time business. Some of his stocks required that part of the grip frame be removed or recontoured to give it the proper angle for his designs; others where made for use on unaltered guns.

Use the search function on this forum. There is a good deal here about Fuzzy. A great deal more at the Smith and Wesson forum site.

Both of my Fuzzy Farrant grips shown above were made for use on unaltered guns.

You have Fuzzy's grips, although a good check would be the right side: the screw holes would probably be filled in with a a small piece of similar wood. The checkered grips are also more desirable, as are the fingergrooved, palm swell design for ambidextrous use, as are both of your sets. They are probably worth $150-$200 apiece. Some try to get more (I saw a pair for a Python listed at $340+ on ebay), but they never sold. I have sold smooth grips similar to yours for about $100, maybe a little more. The Python grips seem to sell slower, as there are fewer of those guns than the S&W N frames, etc.

I just found this link indicating that the smooth fuzzy Farrant Colt Python grips like mine had just sold for $300 on ebay on 3/14/12. These were also for unaltered frames. You have to scroll down to view this completed auction:

Actually, both of my grips are in 100% new(Unused)condition and they look as though they had just sold new yesterday! Thanks for the additional information you have provided.

Oh yeah, those are Fuzzy Farrant's. These pictured on my Python are also the style that did not require a saw on the front corner of the gun's grip frame. They also have the palm swell on each side and the right panel has a blind hole filled in with a matching wood plug.

I guess you never know who is going to pay what for what. The Farrant grips requiring a cut to the grip frames don't sell as well, as many don't want to chop a nice revolver. Maybe it's me. I hate to "scalp" when I have picked up something at a really good price at a gunshow, etc. I recently picked up a set of nice Farrants for a RB S&W "K" frame, and sold them for $95 (IIRC). They were for a standard frame (unchopped), and smooth. My best pickup on Farrants were these for a Ruger Security Six. The seller thought they were for a S&W; I knew they weren't, but bought them anyway, as the price was right: $15. Here in Ohio, on occasion, guys at the gun shows sell grips taken off guns, and have no idea what they have. Probably not so much in CA, where most of the Farrant grips were puchased. It is great fun going through piles of grips at a gunshow table, and finding a set of Farrants.
