New from Central GA, the "Land of the Lame"

Caught this site by accident, don’t even remember how I surfed in. Liked it enough to sign up. I’m an old school collector. I used to go to gun shows coast to coast…from L.A. to Ohio, from Va. to Texas. Was a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors in Columbus, and the Palm Beach Gun Collectors, Palm Beach Fl. I’m a life member N.R.A.
I retired and moved to central Ga. When the airline I worked for bellied up (NAL-PAA). Now the good part…I went to a local gun auction a few years ago
and watched a Colt Lighting pump 44-40 go on the block with out a single bid made for it. And I hadn’t registered to bid ! Meanwhile all of the “gauges” were scoffed up…any camo shotguns went fast and any 30/30 sold. I don’t collect long guns, (I have a few) but I would have bit on that one. I then dubbed this ‘The Land of the LAME’.
My financial situation at the time (remolding a house) made me take some .45’s to a Macon gun show. (.45 1911 # 1 favorite) There I was offered $200 for a Colt Ace, NIB. I mean NEW, still in factory wrapping paper in the box. One from the last run of Colt Aces. I bought it in the late 70’s. But $ 200…There you go again…’The Land of the LAME’.
Which leads me to why I’m “here”. Is any one still interested in real collectibles?
Like my #2 favorite, SAVAGE pistols. (hence the handle) Approximately 250,000 made in less than 2 decades, about 100 years ago, with all types of variations.
A collectors dream.
Has the Glock B.S.taken over? Maybe I shouldn’t say that. It might be the best gun in the world. But I, for one, am tired of hearing all the gun show “experts” hype about a Glock. Has any one ever heard of a Glock collector?
Any way, happy to be ‘here’ and I may even find a collector interested in “Ten Shots Quick”. We could swap stories….guns…spit? (LOL)

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I've been referred by a current member of this forum who has given a thumbs up and then some.

I like pretty much all kinds of guns. I own the following:

Beretta 20 ga O/U that I bought at age 13 ...42 years ago
Colt Python 357, 6"
Colt Diamondback 22, 4"
S&W Model 41 22cal
Springfield XDM 9mm
Volkmann Precision 45 ACP
Rock River Arms .223

I have another Volkmann on order.

Other guns I am looking forward to adding to my collection are:

S/S shotgun in either 28 or 410 ga
Lever action Winchester John Wayne Commemorative Model
A 1911 in 9mm
I'm waiting for a Sig P210 that I'm hoping doesn't work out for one of my buddies :)

I believe that dogs are the greatest invention God ever made (next to my wife.)

I like anything with a motor... especially the smell of a 2 cycle outboard.

Love guitars even though I'm terrible at it.

I still believe in Hi Fidelity stereo. IPOD, MP3 etc doesn't cut it. Yes, at my old age I can still tell the difference.

Oh yeah, I can't forget long walks on the beach...

There ya go, that's the short story of me.

I look forward to getting to know more about y'all as I frequent this forum.

Best Regards,

Jeff

Yeah, we're still out here but I am most into b.p. because of where I live & work.Live on dutch territory(where I can keep m.l. guns) but shoot in Fr. territory(where I keep the real stuff & stuff that makes them go boom). Actually, I'm from your area as I was born & raised in Anniston,AL but left the states 40 yrs ago.Keep a Browning to keep the wolves away but otherwise just 'smoke-poles" for fun. I like such things as antiques, as in Lugars & 45-70's etc. with an occasional smg for spice. Think 600 rpm is nice & anything faster could be handled better with a grenade(u don't have to reload).Yes, I'm the old school & know how to control my shots.
We aren't exactly on the same page, but close only counts in horse-shoes & grenades.I am a firm believer that: On the 8th day, God created 9 m/m. I've reloaded thousands of rds of it & can't imagine a better cal.. To me, the larger cals r b.s. & just to impress others when the 9 says it all. Bon nuit?gotten nacht.

Hello

Hello, I'm Cole. I am new to the forum and just wanted to say hello. I have been thinking of buying a new sig or HK and have been hearing the Euro Optics is now stocking them both and have some good prices. I was looking at the P226 scorpion Elite. What a cool gun! Does anyone have input? Here is a link to what I am looking at: http://www.eurooptic.com/sig-sauer-pistols.aspx

Hello from Florida!

51 year old in the Sunshine State. And yes, I do hunt alligators, guide hunts, films shows and help develope gator hunting equipment.

Prior LEO, 11 years, firearms instructor and Army. I own a combination of sporting rifles, (.223 and 6.8) handguns, shotguns and long guns.

I have enjoyed reading the forum, and thought I would finally join.

Latest purchase was an M&P 40.

Alright.....might as well say something. Finally had to register here, Walkalong's roll crimp pics were just too much to resist anymore.

Everyone in my family hunts so guns have been a normal thing since I was little. Tradition dictated that everyone's first year hunting was done with the "hand me down" Savage 25-35. Never did like that rifle much, but it's probably where my fondness of lever actions comes from.

So that's what I like, nice lever actions and iron sights. Nothing wrong with a bolt though. I have a Winchester 1886 Extra Light in 45-70 and for me it's the greatest lever gun I've ever shot.

I think you spell just fine! Besides, when we are typing quickly, the occasional mistype will happen. Welcome to the forum!

After being a long time lurker I decided to join the community. I am a senior in High School in MI and I love guns. I have hunted and shot guns all my life with my Dad, uncles, and friends. I particularly love rabbit and deer hunting. I'm especially fond of Stevens SXS shotguns, K frame Smiths, 1911's, and Mausers. I also am an avid reader of history books. In addition I like working on trucks, playing video games, and eating pizza. I work in the construction trades in my Dad's business.

Hi! New guy here from the Wet Mountain Valley area of Colorado. I'm into rifles, semi-auto pistols, revolvers and the reloading of most of my ammo.

I'm a native Texan who is 11 months retired and now enjoying a new life in beautiful Colorado.

Glad to be aboard!

I have quite a few guns and I support the 2nd amendment. Although I am an avid hunter and shooter, I like unique guns and guns with a lot of "style". Some of the engravings and etchings are magnificent. If anyone has the chance, visit the Buffalo Bill museum in Cody, WY. They have the most awesome gun collection.I do have a question though, that I hope someone can answer. I have a niece in California that wants to get rid of her firearms and she wants me to have them. What type of red tape do we have to go through. In my state (WY), you don't need any paperwork if the transfer/transaction is between private parties. Thanks for any info.

My name is Glenn and I'm 47, married 22 years, with two sons ages 14 and 17. We also have two dogs - a miniature pinscher and a fox terrier (both from the dog pound). I was unemployed in November 2010 and I'm attending online college for an Associate degree in computer software. I own a 1933 Mosin-Nagant rifle and enjoy shooting it at a local gun range/shop. My interest is mainly in firearms history and technical articles. Welcome to all! :)

Greetings and Salutations! Originally I have been lurking here for answers for some time, decided to join as it seems that most ridiculing someone else's toys is at a minimum. Believe me, LOOOOONG story...anyhow, I collect 22 LR as my preferred firearm, nice, inexpensive, and I can shoot all day long on a few dollars. My other toys, Sig Sauer .357 SP2340, and a few others. I'm pretty easy going, look for knowledge more than anything, but I can easily cut up with the fellas, nah, I'm not a stuffy bat, my brand of humor tends to be crass, and not everyone appreciates that, so in the interests of peace, harmony and all that good stuff; shall we mosy along?

New Guy Saying Hi

Stumbled in by way of reading everything on the net about 1851's and noticing a few guys on Bladeforums mentioned THR
so i joined THR after pouring over the BP & the Revolver Forums! Alot of excellent reading.
Been collecting knives (traditional mostly) for a while and always been a gun guy, just not much money to bankroll having them. Hopefully this will change:D
Again excellent site
Regards
Gene
i'm ivankerley over on bladeforums too!

Hello just joined I've been looking around for info on old military rifles and came across the site so I thought I'd join.

Hello from Texas. 12 year Army vet. I like to shoot cowboy action, long range, some shotgun (sporting clays), and tactical pistol and carbine. I reload (bulk handgun and precision rifle).
I believe that the 1911 is perfection and that golf courses are a waste of a perfectly good rifle range.

New to the forum, Vegas shooter

Have found the forum on many of my searches while researching different things firearms related. I figured I would join and participate.

My shooting mainly consists of long range precision shooting. I shoot different matches here in the south west and have teamed up with my good friends to form Sin City Precision.
