I am looking to add a new weapon too my machine gun shoots. I have been throwing around the idea of a fully automatic glock 18 but I am not sure how many people are interested in shooting a fully automatic pistol. What other machine guns do you guys find interesting, besides the typical AK, and AR, style machine guns.

A machine pistol?

Your best getting one that has a buttstock, like a Stechkin or a Mauser C96. Easier to control.

Some things that might help:

What guns do you already have for the machine gun shoot? That way we can start with what you don't have.

A Glock 18 is probably going to go for about 1/30th the price of a MP5SD, so that's a consideration.

Personally, I'd like to try a machine pistol side-by-side with a SMG, see how hard it really is. Not saying I don't think it is, I'd just like to see for myself. I'd rent it if I were there.

Here is a list of the guns that I bring to almost every machine gun shoot, MK4, Galil, FNC, Valmet, PSG1, MP5K, MP40, Colt 9mm, MG42, AK47, HK33. You can also look at the arsenal list on www.mambaguns.com. I am very concerned about how hard it could be too control the Glock 18 as well.

The liability might be too much considering the control issue, but they're shot at other machine gun shoots. If it was a "rental" I'd make sure it had a stock on it.

M-60s are easy to come by and a blast to shoot. Lot cheaper than finding a M240, and the Viet Nam Vets will love it. You can't go wrong with the M2 either. I also think that the G-18 is a bad idea, dangerous for a novice shooter to handle. MP5s and UZIs are always popular since they are in so many TV shows and games.

aside from shooting himself in the hand, did you see how quickly he put two or three into the concrete above him on the first burst?

If I was renting the toys out, I would probably stay away from something that jumps that quickly.

The reason that dude shot himself in the hand is because the gun had a foregrip attached to the light rail, and the grip either fell or broke off. If he'd been holding the gun like a handgun with two hands on the pistol grip, I doubt the result would have been the same.

I really like the old stuff. Something like an MG08/15 would be very affordable and could be really interesting to people who haven't handled anything from the WWI era.

Browning 1919A4 or A6, BAR, Thompson would all be fun to shoot. Maybe an M2 HB BMG if you have the proper range for it.
