The Pistole CZ vz27 was a straight blowback design chambered in .32ACP (7.65mm.), and was the standard sidearm of the Czech military forces prior to WWII. It should be marked "Ceska Zbrojovka As v Praze" or "Akc Spol. v Praze" if of pre-war construction. Later versions made under German occupation would be marked "Bohmische Waffenfabrik A.G. Prague" or "Prag". The model designation would be "Pistole Modell 27(t) Kal. 7.65" as per German nomenclature at the time. The German factory code for where these pistols were built in occupied Czechoslovakia was "fnh" and would be found on the slide near the model inscription. It might also have black plastic grips in place of the original wooden grips of pre-war manufacture.

Like he said, except that he'd running you through most of the variations of the coding, there were 2 (or 3) Czech scripts, then there were 4? occupation scripts, the last was just the nazi German factory code FHN

you can date the pistol by the code, or on the earlier versions, it will have the manufacture date after a rampant lion or crossed swords, Czech acceptance marks, on the frame.

Dad carried a confiscated CZ27 (or P27 as he called it, due to the German designation) as a "backup" piece during the war. He said it was reliable and accurate. Sadly he traded it off before he returned from Europe.
