Who's got the best prices on 500 round packs? So far I've seen $119 for Brown Bear from JG sales and the same for TulAmmo from Cheaper than dirt.

Anyone else see anything better out there? I remember seeing a website a while ago that had a current list of ammo prices by caliber from different places but can't seem to find the URL anymore....

walmart has tula forr 4.39 fir a box of 20 so if you buy 25 boxes tis basically the same

I think the only surplus easily found these days in 7.62x39 is the Yugoslavian brass-case (but berdan primed, IIRC) stuff. If it's anything like Yugo surplus 7.62x25 and 7.92x57, it's going to be great stuff, but corrosive if that's an issue for you.

I think the commercial market has the 7.62x39 pretty well covered with inexpensive, non-corrosive fodder. I admit I was concerned when legislation put the nix on dirt-cheap Chinese Norinco ammo which I liked well enough at $1.25/20 in the 90's, but fortunately Russia stepped in and filled the void.

What do people insist on calling Brown Bear and Tula surplus ammo? It's current manufacture ammunition, not surplus.

Its rolling off the same military assembly lines that were set up to supply WWIII, if it is not going the US commercial market it is going to some global hotspot somewhere.

Keep your eyes open at Aimsurplus, CTD and Centerfire for sales when they get a shipment in.

SGammo.com usually has a bit of some Golden tiger in stock and at a good price.

Wideners.com some times get milsurp on occasion (if you can put up with corrosive ammo)
