I have been keeping my eye out for certain HK pistol. It has been out of stock at Buds. Yesterday, I was looking at their listings, and they had a HK P30 in 40 caliber listed for $927. Today, it is listed at $838. Why would there be an almost $100 price drop in less than 24 hrs?

Buds is funny like that with their sales. It will piss you off when you buy one and the next day its 200.00 cheaper. They had the HK SL8-6 for around 1900 forever and then one day it was 1425. Talk about a huge price cut.

Supply and demand. If they have 10 pistols in stock, it's better that they make $25 profit on each pistol and sell all 10 rather than make $125 on selling just one and not being able to sell the other 9.

Because their system tracks inventory with multiple distributors, and posts prices as lowest cost + markup. If a cheaper distributor offered one for sale today that was out of stock yesterday, then you get a lower price. Once that distributor is out of stock, the next cheapest distributor will be used, and the price will increase.

Yep - Buds has clearly posted on their Facebook page recently that prices will fluctuate and (unlike this case) they have had a lot of price increases lately that are simply due to their costs from the distributor going up.

The ones that I had my eye on that jumped were the S&W SD series which went from $329 to $369, and the Beretta PX4's which when last I looked had jumped from $398 to $498.

I'm in no huge rush for more guns though. I need ammo to shoot and am probably going to place a large order with Precision Delta next week just to make sure I have enough components to get me through this shooting season, but I can wait for the gun prices to die back down.

I ordered a CZ 75bd from Bud's yesterday for $489. The price this morning was $504. At either price I consider it money well spent.

Careful with Bud's...especially their auction site. They use a lot of tricks to make you think you're getting a deal (or can get a deal), then the next thing you know their price plummets for arbitrary and temporary reasons or worse yet you're paying THEM to bid on their auction site for arms they don't really have in stock and that you were mislead to think was being bid on at a ridiculously low price (read their fine print, folks). I know this not because I was burned, but because it's my vocation to find these kinds of shysters out there. Caveat Emptor applies double with these folks. My unsolicited advice...play it safe and buy locally or from a reputable seller here on THR.

While it may be your vocation to root out shysters.......it's a bit disturbing that you can't tell the difference between a Bud's auction and a link to BidGunner?:scrutiny:

Bud's only supplies guns to bidgunner.com......it doesn't own them. (and yes bidgunner is for fools)

A few days after the recent shooting, I saw a PAP pistol at Bud's go for under 600 on sale early in the day, then it was 100 bucks more an hour later, then it was 800 something by the end of the day. Bud's is a good outfit, but that kind of reflected badly on them, in my opinion.

All of their "assault" stuff seems to on auction rather than sale - an ingenious tactic, as it's the customer putting the high prices on this stuff, not Bud's.

YOWZA, I'm cruzing on over to Buds!
