This steps up to a whole new level. She wants to end the 10 yr limit on assault weapons and high caps. We should all be in it to stop it.

Not exactly sure where you've been, but the rest of us have known this was coming since she announced it last month.

It can be delayed in the Senate but it will pass there. If it's going to be stopped, it will happen in the House.

THey got plenty of antigun senators and advocates taking turns explaining the Bill. Without a doubt this is well planned to take away semi auto and high cap guns for good, the one stroke they always wanted to happen.

I am not all that worried about this AWB even getting passed in the senate. There are quite a few liberal senators who live in very pro-gun states. They remember what happened after the 94 ban passed. I'm worried about the compromise being a ban on standard capacity magazines. I think that would be something they might be able to get through the senate.

I just don't see that gaining traction. It affects a greater number of gun owners. Just about everyone that owns are shoots a so called "assault weapon" uses magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. However, a huge number of handgun owners who don't own those evil black rifles ALSO use magazines over 10 rounds.

I fit into both camps (own a lot of > 10 round mags and own an AR15), but I see the mag issue as being far more unpopular among gun folk than just the rifles.

We'll see how that goes. I imagine the whips are working feverishly to keep their people in line and try to lure over a potential defector or three. Got to keep those dogs from straying.

Both parties in the Senate elect whips. The term "whip" comes from a fox-hunting expression -- "whipper-in" -- referring to the member of the hunting team responsible for keeping the dogs from straying from the team during a chase. Established early in the 20th century, the development of party whips coincided with the evolution of party leaders in the Senate.

I thought it was interesting.

No body was worried about the bailout either / or health care. They are not bringing this up for no reason. They think they can win and their track record shows that they will do whatever it takes, twist, lie, vote in the middle of the night, in order to win.

No word yet from NRA. But this only add more fuel for people to flock to the LGSs all across the country. Wow , the high prices will even soar. Maybe it s time for me to sell one of my SKS for a $1000.

Yeah, you'd better sell today. When this fails to make it out of committee (or, heaven forbid...actually makes it to the floor to get shot down there) those "investor" prices will plummet. Act fast!
