I bought a box of 55 gr bullets for my .243 and got started putting them together. I have reloaded the 100+ grains before and never had any reservations about COL. When I seated the 55 grain just bareley into the neck and checked the OAL they seemed to be alot shorter than what the Lee book says about minimum OAL. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks>

Never seen a minimum OAL listed for a rifle. Seat them so the ogive is not in the case mouth and call it good.

The little bullets are really fun in the .243. Disgustingly fast and flat out to 400yds or so and explosive terminal performance.

Seat them to .243" or close to that much into the neck and call it good. Trying to get them much closer to the lands probably would benefit, and would probably leave you with very little bullet in the neck.

Just make sure there is enough in the neck to stay in place. If you can shove it side to side & pull it by hand it isn't deep enough.

20gn of Blue Dot sounds like a good load to me but easy to fit 3 times to much powder in the case so be careful. A double charge would probably blow the gun up.

Thanks for the inputs. I used 42 gr of h4895(not max load), seated bullet ,and crimped.
