I've trimmed one bottleneck rifle case 8 thou shorter than the manual's
1.902" trim-to length. This case is on it's fourth reload; the neck sized properly and will tightly hold/retain a bullet at its seated depth.

Wondering if there likely is enough neck length left to assure full obturation of gases/pressure?

Sure I could turf it, but the obturation question would remain.

Just keep the overall length when loaded with bullet. Now, if the cartridge headspaces on the case mouth instead of the shoulder, rim or magnum belt, it could cause a problem. Given the length, I assume a bottleneck case. Just do not want someone thinking that a 45 ACP or 9mm is ok in the same case.

Yes it is a bottleneck case.

Thanks for pointing out the safety implications wrt too-short cases that are designed to headspace on the mouth.

You'll be just fine, and you won't even notice any difference if any exists. I once inadvertantly trimmed some .270 win. .010" or .012" shorter than minimum SAAMI spec. and couldn't decern the difference on paper, or chronograph.
